Hello there, here Marty for your weekly UFFL news!
- In Chicago, Vegas Wide Receiver Logan Mckee had a career best day with 141 receiving yards against the Outlaws, as both division rivals fought neck and neck the whole game. It came down to the lucky feet of Outlaws Kicker Thalia Perez, as she would tie a team record 5/5 on field goals today, and would break the Bandits fans’s heart at the very end as the bear would kick a team/career long 57 yard field goal at 16 second left in the fourth quarter, as the Outlaws would survive a nail biter and win 22-19.
- After missing a couple of games with an injury, the First overall pick Marc-Édouard Carpentier finally had a proper start for the Flames against the Crushers. While he would suffer 2 Interceptions, the Hyena starting to show signs of brilliance that the Flames would need in the future, For the Crushers, with Redfield still hurting the QB spot for Colorado was in the paws of Zoe Mckee, who proved to be a difference maker in this game, scoring 2 TDs with a QB rating of 107.5. The Crushers ended up winning this game 27-21, but the game was really much closer than the score would show. Help is on the way.
- In Grand Rapids, A pick six from Austin Linebacker Hat Chargogga in the third quarter, his first since 2017, was apparently all what the Blues needed, as once more the offense of Grand Rapids struggled even with Kira Cassiano’s effort (34/48, 279 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs) kai Koa was benched toward the end of the game for Peli Connors, hoping to get a jolt to be able to get over the hump, and Connors would deliver with 4/5 and a key TD. Austin wins the game 28-17.
- In a competitive affair in New York, the Defiant were going toe to toe with the defending champs Renegades. In a game where points were at a premium, Wide Receiver for New York Justice Matari would shine with 124 receiving yards and 1 TD. North Florida's defense held strong, thanks in part to the work of Linebacker Ricardo Gorman ( 9 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recover) , but the Renegades were shut down in the second half, and suffered a costly safety that helped the Defiant go over and win. New York wins this one 18-14.
- In Easton, the Bald Eagles would bounce back after next week in remarkable fashion against a tough challenge in Baltimore, as once again, rookie sensation Java Jenkins was the key contributor with 109 yards rushing and 2 TDs. Fellow teammate Lyra Murphy had a great game with 2 TDs on 73 yards receiving. As Free Safety Jordan Desjardins shut the Baltimore offense with 8 tackles 1 INT and a forced fumble. Easton wins this one 28-14.
- In Miami, it was a tale of two halves. The Tropics started out with a Pick six from Courtney Oeun and it seemed like once again, the Corsairs QB rookie Theodore Dupré had all the difficulty in the world to settle in. Tropics led at the half 16-13. Then the second half happened, and…Dupree went HAM. Demonstrating the qualities that made him a prized first round selection, he would carve the Tropîcs defense with 3 TDs as the Corsairs would roll Miami over and scored their first win of the season, winning 41-16.
- In California, things seemed to start well for the Demons, as they had the Nashville Tuts on their heels As they led 13-0 quickly in the second quarter. Then Tuts QB Roman Oliviera broke out and attacked the Demons’s Defense with 358 passing yards and 4 TDs ( a career high ). The Tuts were also merciless on defense as 3 Tuts players rattled California with over 10 tackles each. And if things would not be enough, O-line player for the Demons Arthur Brisby would be out for 2 months, having suffered a broken arm. Nashville wins this game 30-13.
