What options do they give? Is there a phone number to call?

Well they link to a account recovery page, but that just asks for the inactive email to contact support, which defeats the point. maybe better if I have another look in the morning after some sleep.

Two factor normally shouldn't be as long as alternate means are always preserved. Not sure why it didn't have record of your number; that's really unfortunate! (I have had to start using authenticator apps because I am drowning in passwords between work and leisure).

See if you can get a phone or even a live chat. Do you know why the other e-mail was deactivated and can it be restored at all?

Well it is a yahoo mail, it was closed for inactivity aparently, but while I can reactivate it it won't be the same, since the old email still had the .uk adress which has long been discontinued so it will be a new email adress that won't match what MSN has set for the recovery mail. I could try with a microsoft account but I don't have that account info since that was set by the store where I bought the pc. =/ I was going to look into getting another email to set as a recovery mail but this just came out of nowhere requiring me to log in with that email code.

Do you have a Gmail to use as a recovery e-mail? And maybe even try reactivating and see what happens? Perhaps there could be internal routing that will still get the e-mail to you.
