Weekly Update! (2025-11-30) Snowing About It
Hello poxes and boxes!
We’re rolling along and things are looking well, at the very least! I’m hopeful, if nothing else, at least about the state of my own work. My personal health and hygiene has been doing a lot better and I’m just feeling better in general, which I hope translates to better work overall.
However, getting on to business, there’s been a bit of confusion or curiosity about how I choose commissions and whether or not if someone submitted one, when or if it will be selected.
So I figured I’d clear things up a little just for transparency’s sake and for everyone’s piece of mind. This is how I’m planning on doing standard commissions (not Sketch on the Spot, which works the same as it always has, or special events, which have their own rules) going forward.
So first of all, everyone puts their requests in the commission forms and I collect those there until I think there are too many for me to reasonably go through and I turn the forms off. I do have two forms, one for subscribers and one for the general public. They function the same, but I do give preference to my subscribers if they haven’t gotten anything recently. I want to try and keep these open as much as I can so that people can casually submit things.
The public form is HERE!
Then, either way, I search through the forms and see what’s been submitted so that I can add it to my spreadsheets. If there’s anything in there that I simply will not touch due to content or I find something to be too arduous or aggravating to even consider (this is rare), I will reject it outright. If I do that, I will e-mail or message you stating that your submission has been rejected along with the reason why.
I try and do this at least once a week, so if your submission hasn’t been rejected in that time, I’m at least considering it.
Next, when I have a spot available (that means I don’t have a significant backlog) I will search through the available pieces and see what looks appealing to me at that time. If I decided to take on a piece, I will message you asking if you are ready, ask whatever questions I have, and verify the cost.
Once your piece has been selected and begun, I’ll put you on my list, noting that you’ve gotten something recently. I’m going to try and look for people who have never gotten things, or who haven’t gotten anything recently when selecting in the future, so that people who have been waiting or are new can get something from me sooner rather than later. Also if you haven’t paid for a completed piece, or your work is in progress already, then that will preclude you from being selected for something new.
I’m hoping this will make it easier and a little less annoying than having to grind through a list where people have to attend streams so that people who can’t do that can still get stuff, and also make it so that I can pick things that are fun for me, but also give new people a chance to get things by making me aware of how often everyone goes.
I hope that explanation isn’t too wordy, and that it clears up a few things.
Still, things are moving along. I’ve got a few large things to take care of (as it always is,) so I’m going to see about taking on some smaller pieces in the meantime while I chip away at those. The main thing is, I just don’t want to make a big mountain of promises and end up having to grind away at stuff until August, which is why I’m not confirming a bunch of commission suggestions just yet.
I’ve still got some fun plans for December. More Sketch on the Spot starting second week, plus a little event I have planned for the Discord which I will talk about there, so you all can look forward to that. There will be some discount bin things available (which I’ll do demos for this week) and just... generally trying to get into the spirit of the season.
The snow here has been lovely and I’ve been trying to keep warm (my room is, for once, the warmest room in the house!) But things are... starting to settle in finally and while I’m still getting things organized, I feel like things are starting to fall into place and that I’ll be able to start the next year on a good foot.
I hope the lot of you are doing well, and that Thanksgiving (for those of you in the States) wasn’t too harrowing.
I’ll see you all next week! Take care of yourselves, and bundle up!
