Random thoughts, Zootopia related

After watching Zootopia 2, I'm really considering commissioning artwork of Nick's mom, Mrs. Wilde. I felt a bit let down that she didn't appear in the film; that's my only complaint. I'm still hopeful she'll show up in Zootopia 3 or any future series. My idea is to reuse Judy Reinard's design but perhaps with a different eye color. However, what keeps me thinking is the question of ownership. As a commissioner, I'm not the artist, so I can’t claim Mrs. Wilde as my own—she’s owned by Disney. But if I develop a backstory for her, who would actually own this hypothetical version of Mrs. Wilde? I’m also concerned that my ideas might not align with Disney's official backstory for her. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.

It's similar to the many different takes on MLP characters and their relationships with each other. Even as some have been later discredited by the official lore, that hasn't stopped their popularity amidst the fandom.
Only issue would be the ownership thing. You technically 'own' your interpretation of the character but you don't 'own' the character themselves, meaning you can't make money off them and such.
Corporate IP is trash.
