You have to keep a little crazy hidden away in your back pocket just to maintain your sanity.

The other day, as I was fulfilling my grandparent duty of getting children to school (a twice a week chore) my grandson plops a book down on the couch armrest. Looking at it, I was surprised to find it was one of mine - 'Reach For The Sky'. Not a page had been bent - meaning it had been placed on a bookshelf and not touched. Checking, I found I had autographed it for my son and family.
I smuggled it home and will place it in a proper frame for the wall.
Just be aware - family members, and those close to you will only see you as the person they lived with when they were growing up. It is my understanding (not tongue in cheek) that Jesus had that very same issue. Try not to be offended when this happens to you. They still love you.
In other news, I have a non-furry friend who is a printer. He was my neighbor for a lot of years and has done printings for me in the past. I was always happy with his work. He has recently merged his company with another, and I checked to see if he could still do books.
His answer was yes. web site: https://www.thelionpressprinting.com/
If you send a note, make it Atten: Bill
Be aware that he is not a vanity publisher - they are a printing company. (big difference)

In fact, my mates on Xitter also started typing a bit - "Pharaoh Hound Press", if anyone is interested

Unfortunately, it would seem the old style publisher is pretty much a thing of the past.
A printer is just that. They print what you give them to print, and you pay for their services.
Bill has done things for me before. We were neighbors and friends. He printed up this particular story, which I used as my parent/child free gift when I went to a con. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/15339097/

And I know how you feel, my friend. Something similar happened to me. A story written as a gift, and painstakingly printed, remained on the shelf as a souvenir.

Another great lesson is that children find and carry anything that is not bolted down lol.

I know most of my family and many of my close friends do not read my comic strip, and I'm okay with that. And I know I've published stories that I put a lot of work into, and got zero feedback on, because no one read them.
I also have friends who enjoy writing stories, on subjects I will not read, even to just be polite, because I am too honest to say I loved something I couldn't get into.
Just think about what you'd do if a friend gifted you a book they'd written, on subject matter you have no interest in, or worse, that makes you uncomfortable to read.
*smiles... but I will always read your work...

Recently we received a book that the giver clearly enjoyed, because he also sent a copy to his mom; but it's a fan-fiction "sequel" to "The War of the Worlds" and isn't something any of us would choose to read for ourselves.
We wish he'd kept his money in his pocket, truthfully...

(I still have mine on the shelf!)
*hugs tight…
