Two more days until Christmas….

…well, Christmas Eve anyway. The big day is still one extra day away but that’s okay. I’m pumped for the run up to the holiday. Work wise, the worst is over for me. I got through the Saturday, I dodged working the Sunday. All that’s left is the Monday and Tuesday. And with a very nearly full management team in attendance , the sole pressure on me to lead is out the window. That was my worry for the weekend, I’ve never run a Christmas shift solo and a Saturday wasn’t the first day I wanted to do that. I was quite happy to hide behind the lack of any real shopfloor leadership schedule and just pick up issues here and there. I was watching and learning lessons for next year.
Again, I’m glad the worst is over craziness wise, these next two days will be busy but not madly busy. I’m also glad I’m not locking up the building this year. That’s a stress I’ve taken on the last three years, now some of the new blood can take a turn. My main focus the next two days is helping out where I’m needed and taking down all the hanging advertising we have. Snowflakes. Arches. Banners and pointers. Anything that can swing and set off the alarms has to go. I take this very seriously, I’m a key holder and I’m not getting called out for that kinda false alarm.
Anyway, Xmas is gonna be chill. Some movies maybe, a little booze, relaxing family time. Mince Pies too for sure. I’m just looking forward to resting up for a few days, kick back and unwind. While I do miss having family round for Christmas, there is time to meet up in the new year, spreads out the holiday a bit. What plans do you have for Christmas?
