What Has Grav Been Playing? (Part IX)

General
Holy bird jesus it's been a while since I did this! Well I have plenty of new experiences to share after all that time, so let's go over some of it!
Pokémon Legends ZA
I legitimately enjoyed this a lot more than SV, if I'm being perfectly honest. It stunk at first that you only traverse Lumiose, but this one city has a lot of personality to it, and the fashion for the player character is on point! The battle system is very interesting, and after post-game I had more fun than I expected just making donuts and hunting way more shiny pokemon than I anticipated finding. All around it's a good time.
Bits & Bops
A really nice Rhythm Heaven successor I found on Steam. Adorable art style, and while the music overall was a bit more on the tame side, it's still full of charm and great characters. My personal favorite minigames are Meet & Tweet and Flow Worms.
Dangeresque: The Roomisode Triungulate
Another great game I found on Steam. Anyone who is a fan of Homestar Runner will immediately gravitate towards this game. It's a perfectly enjoyable reimagining of those old DOS point & click games with none of the outdated game mechanics. And of course it has wonderful characters, great voice acting, and a ton of hysterical moments all packaged into a wonderful cronchy pixel art style.
OFF
Yes, that classic RPG made by Mortis Ghost. It got a remaster a while back, and it's honestly just as fun and bizarre as ever. The new soundtrack may be an acquired taste to those who are used to the classic OST, but I think the new one is amazing in its own right and holds its own very commendably. It has a more enjoyable battle system, extra boss battles with trippy sprite animation, and just an overall abstract tone that I always love seeing in these classic RPGmaker games.
Kirby Air Riders
Holy cow, what a timeline we're in that we got a remake of this classic Gamecube game. Honestly everything about it knocks it out of the park. It keeps the traditional formula but expands on it in many fantastic ways that are great for both veterans and newcomers alike. I would definitely call this the best racing game on Switch 2 right now.
Yakuza 0
And finally, an unexpected grab from me in the recent months. I was unsure at first if this would be worth getting on Switch 2, but I am amazed at how well it runs on the console, genuinely impressive work here. I've honestly barely scratched the surface of this game; almost 9 hours and I'm only a few chapters in. But I'm really into it. It has the perfect mix of drama, badass action, and out of nowhere comedy. There is so much to do in this game it's kind of overwhelming, some of the side stuff (like billiards or shogi) it kind of lame, but the fact that it has so much variety is really commendable.
And that's about it from me for now! Until next time~

The new bosses are definitely interesting and it adds a new layer to the game. Also the new animations for them are mesmerizing to say the least, very stand out!
I really have to agree with you on the ZA thing. I'd say it's probably the best Pokemon game on Switch, if not one of the best 3D Pokemon games in general. Honestly, it kinda reinvigorated my interest in the series after SwSh and BDSP left me kinda burned out for a long time.
As for Air Riders, I didn't play a lot of the original (though that could have just been decision paralysis from having so many games on my hacked GCN), but I did pick up the sequel because of how many people were having fun with it. I've almost gotten all the story mode checks, and I've gotten all the classic tracks and playable characters. I honestly wouldn't mind an Air Ride 3 on whatever system Nintendo does next, even if it's probably gonna be the 2030s by the time that happens.
Rhythm Doctor however, is absolutely amazing. Played it since Early Access, and now I have all the achievements! (Oh wow, you did a repainted project? That's pretty dope)
I will say SV did get better with the Switch 2 patch, but ZA is still the better experience. BDSP is, on record, the only pokemon game I ever returned. It was so disappointing in comparison to ORAS, the remakes before it.
Air Riders was a definite joyride for my entire time playing. Granted some of the checklists are kind of a drag (I still haven't triggered Dyna Blade's event in City Trial to this day), but the general core game itself is fantastic.
Funny enough, Jenny went on to actually become part of 7th Beat Games, working on Rhythm Doctor as a programmer. She and another dev, saladplainzone, also did some work on Heaven Studio before the takedown happened.
