They’re one of the reasons I’ve been afraid to visit the US, and several of my friends have been telling me to stay away because they don’t want anything bad happening to me.

It really sucks too, because I was making plans to visit my boyfriend. Now I wonder if we’ll ever see each other.

I hate to say it, but it was only a matter of time before ICE got someone killed. They’d already interrupted a firefighter doing their job just to go “Papers, please!”, and from there, I knew someone was going to die sooner or later. So yeah, I do not like these cowardly assholes that’re too afraid to show their faces.

I wish I could emigrate to Canada or even Australia or the UK, really any English speaking place that can understand my speech and will have me. Nothing is easy and I don't want to leave my stuff behind either.

In my country I did suffer quite the stupidity when the previous president was there. There is still a lot of cowards who wants to wants to keep with his legacy, some claims what he did wasn't criminal (even though it clearly was), and I am so glad that guy is in prison.

Sadly... I don't think the United States can be saved... or even deserves to be saved. I know people have said "democracy failed" when Trump was elected, twice, but the more I hear and see... no I don't believe that anymore. Democracy did exactly what it was intended to do: put in charge the person most of the country wanted in power, and sadly most of the USA wanted a racist, sexist, fascist, cheetoh-man in charge. Even if, yes, part of the problem is that people are being convinced to vote against their best interests, that's just the inbuilt problem I've found with democracy in general: democracy doesn't work in a world where propaganda exists because it tricks people into making poor decisions. Honestly if I wanted to fix things I'd just say that all political parties are allowed one brochure to state their campaign goals, no attacks on other candidates, no TV ads, no online, nothing but one fixed-size brochure with a minimum font size. Get a simple statement of each candidates intentions so people will either vote on their party lines or not get bombarded by tons of BS that makes it nearly impossible to make an informed decision or makes people do stupid things.

Sorry for the rant, just dreaming about a better world and writing stories that reflect that...

Up here in Canada might not be safe, we're next door to Trump so if things keep going this way, we're the first target for invasion and we're fucked when that happens, our military is a joke (I'm pretty sure the police force of any decent sized American City is better armed than we are) and there's no way we can defend a border that large. I am afraid but honestly, all the BS that's happened since 2020 has left me too numb to feel much fear or anger at all of this. It's there but I mostly reserve my emotional reactions for things I enjoy these days... Laughter and my writing are the only refuges I have from the horrors of reality.

This is also why I can't watch "Amazing Digital Circus", being trapped in a small world under the control of an insane trickster god no one can seem to stop... feels too real. I get that might be the point but I'd rather watch old Animaniacs than something like that.

Well, yes and no. A majority did not want Trump but we don't have mandatory voting here and either those who should have voted didn't, or they refused to team up to vote for Kamala Harris.

I don't deserve it and neither does anyone else who think like me.

The problem with political ads is they're fraught with lies and misinformation. I personally think lying in political ads should be illegal and automatically disqualify the candidate involved. The American Public is too stupid to tell the difference and easily misled.

I do think if Canada is invaded that other world powers will step up, like the UK, France, maybe Germany, even the UN. I think I heard something about NATO taking a stand against us taking Greenland. I sincerely hope and encourage all of Europe to gang together to fight Trump. Because I don't want this shit.

Outside of that, I need furry. It's my getaway from this garbage excuse for reality.

Some people didn't vote because they didn't want Kamala in charge for reasons... I have a friend who refused to vote last election because she was pissed at the democrats for "what they did to Biden" and didn't like Kalama's politics. I told her she should but... yeah politics are just fucked...

I know I've heard people say that "it's been worse" and citing Reagen and Nixon but even if that's true it's like... I won't use the comparison I thought of but it boils down to: they may have been worse, but because of the passage of time Trump has a greater ability to cause harm just by the advance of technology. Also those two (and others I'm sure) having been president only furthers my belief that the states don't really deserve or want to be saved. This is just the same shit again.

I think that no political ads should be permitted. All they do is insult the other candidate rather than say anything real. I think candidates should have to run on their record and debates.

I get ya, I really do. I'm from Germany, so I have to warn about the Fourth Reich comparison, but I honestly think you may be right. I was thinking of visiting the anthroocon a few times already in the past years, but either I didn't have the funds, or I didn't dare to. On the other hand I have a friend who visits LA several times a year to visit a friend there. She never had any issues even though she carries sensitive medication. Of course she has all required documentation, but I think we both know how far that will get you when ICE wants your ass.

I really hope we both are wrong in the end, and things turn out for the better and all will be fine, but hope makes itself rere these times.
