ANE and the New England state of mind

Wow it’s been a minute since I’ve made a journal here, but I wanted to put some thoughts onto Paper while I was in the proper headspace.
There’s something about New England and Boston especially that will forever draw me to the city, maybe cause it seems way less hectic than NYC. Maybe it’s a deeper connection given my many years spending my summers on Cape Cod or just that I’ve been to Boston just as much as I’ve been to the city. Maybe it’s the closeness to the ocean that somehow feels different from being near the water in NYC. I dunno
Anthro New England is also a con that continues to draw me into it year after year since 2019, minus 2021 due to covid but when I saw that it was coming back open in 2022 I went. Even joined staff in 2025 to give back to a convention that has given me so much. 2026 has definitely be a “growing pains” con expecting a massive increase in attendance given how full the lobby has felt over the weekend, how linecon has reached new heights. With a total of 7284 attendees with over 1500 new attendees coming this year. Growing pains will happen I suppose but hopefully we can continue to grow in a new space next door, the same one that PAX East is held in.
ANE will always and forever hold a special place in my heart, as a place I consider a second home and a second family. Here’s to ANE 2027, Sleepytime’s the next theme.
