Ohai! ✧˖° ╰┈➤ A short update on the situation for those who recently joined.
First, a brief explanation of how this started.
A few days ago I brought several of my cats to a veterinary clinic called Zveropolis. Some of them suddenly developed worrying symptoms, so I went there for a consultation and medical help.
After a very brief examination, the veterinarian said the symptoms looked like Aujeszky’s disease (also known as pseudorabies) and told me the animals could not be treated. I was told they would suffer and die anyway, and that euthanasia was the only humane option.
I am not a veterinarian, and at that moment I relied on the doctor’s professional opinion. As a result, three of my cats were euthanized.
After that I took two other cats with similar symptoms to a different clinic. There they were stabilized and treated, and they are currently alive.
That was the moment when I started to seriously question what had happened.

When I asked the clinic for the medical documentation related to the visit (exam notes, medical conclusion, etc.), I was told that the documents would only be released after I paid the remaining balance.
The amount in question is 2700 rubles (around $30-35), which i never refused to pay.
In Russia, veterinary services are legally treated as consumer services, and pet owners have the right to request documentation related to the services provided so they can evaluate the services quality and proceed with the payment right after. The clinic, however, stated that the documents would not be given to me until the remaining payment was made.
At the same time, representatives of the clinic said that diagnostic tests were not performed because they believed I would not be able to pay for them - I never said that. I was never asked. This was never directly discussed with me and no diagnostic options or prices were presented during the appointment.
So the situation currently looks like this:
— a diagnosis was made without laboratory confirmation
— medical documentation has not yet been provided to me
— the clinic says it will only be released after payment.

After I started asking questions and requesting the documentation, the conversations with the clinic’s representatives became quite tense.
During one phone call I was accused of allegedly coming to the clinic with the intention to deceive them, “taking advantage of the clinic”, and simply refusing to pay.
I was also told that I “do not understand veterinary medicine” and advised to “stop slandering the clinic”.
I recorded these conversations because I was a participant in them. In many countries this is legal if you are part of the conversation, and in Russia recordings made by a participant can also be used as evidence in court.
The full recordings are preserved. In the video I posted, the conversation is published without taking statements out of context.
╰┈➤ What is happening now
I sent the bodies of the animals for laboratory examination.
Today I contacted the laboratory in Kazan and received important information:
they are testing the material only for rabies.
They do not perform tests for Aujeszky’s disease.
This means that at this moment the diagnosis of Aujeszky’s disease has not been laboratory confirmed.
I am now trying to find out whether part of the biological material can be sent to another laboratory that performs testing for that virus.
╰┈➤ Why I am talking about this publicly
My goal is not to harass the clinic or create drama.
I simply want to:
— receive the medical documentation related to my animals
— understand exactly what happened
— wait for the results of the laboratory examination.
If the veterinarian’s actions were fully justified, the examination will show that.
But right now there are still too many unanswered questions.

On the 12th I plan to visit the clinic in person to obtain the documents related to the visit. A witness will be with me and will document the interaction.
I am also waiting for the official laboratory results.
As soon as there are updates, I will share them.

This has been tough through and through so far. I want only to know the truth and not ONCE has ever even slightly insuled ANYONE while trying to know about the truth. Despite all the grief and rage and loss - I did my best staying as calm as I could so I can at least know what the fuck happened with the lives that I loved as family. They are panicked, irrational and try to push through my grief to snap me into emotions, but little do they know I have nothing left to lose and will dig two graves trying to seek justice, if needed.

I could buy my cats new food (as the previous was most likely poisoned, I just could not risk it), I could also get some questions sorted. Even my dad, who we are not in best relationship with, got to me and helped paying my rent as I was in cmpletely non-function stat to do ANYTHING. Today, I have started to get back to work little by little. Thank you for all the patience in this matter, it means a lot to me.

Yet, there is a bumpy road ahead. In the nearest future, I will need to pay for meat (food they ate) toxicology, material transporting to another city, additional pseudorabies testing. The thought that my babies are now livelessly trip from place to place, being cut in pieces - is killing me. But least I can do for them now is seek justice. For them and all of those, who can fall victim of this place and incompetent doctors.

I cannot even fathom what I would do if in your position, I'm actually tearing up just thinking about it. I would be absolutely devastated, which I know that you are. I don't know that I wouldn't just mentally and physically shut down, to be honest.
I know that nothing will bring your babies back to you, but I hope you get justice for what happened to them. This is enraging and terrifying!
