BEST FILM EVER

Can't say I've seen it yet myself.

But I'm hearing good reviews about it so.. I might just invest in checking it out~

It's defiantly worth the watch, I highly recommend it

I haven't seen it yet either, and probably won't for a while. lack of a car and the current hideous winter weather will prevent me from getting to a movie theater anytime soon. I'l probably end up seeing it in spring when it winds its way to a local dollar theater, or when it comes out on DVD. But I definitely wnat to see it, yes.

I'd heard the plot compared not to just Pocahontas, but to Ferngully and Dances With Wolves too. I guess they all do have similar plots on the surface...guy goes off to strange land, meets friendly indigenous tribe, falls for the local hottie, then ends up helping them fight off evil imperialism.

Except for the local hottie part, that could also describe Lawrence of Arabia...

Heh, I used the Pocahontas example because I thought it was the earliest, shows what I know/can be bothered to look up. You could also compare it to The Last Samurai as well.

I am actually tempted to go see it again in non 3D to compare, I'm within walking distance of a cinema so I don't have the understandable problems, and money is slightly appeased by the ever so wonderful Orange Wednesdays.

The 3D isn't a huge in your face and most of the time it's generally subtle but gives a nice sense of scale, what with all the alien jungle and creatures.

Now you just make me want to see it all the more. Too bad I'll ahve to wait. c'est la vie, I guess...
