Which would you choose and why?
With all the/refresh CPUs that are suddenly hitting the market, which would you choose?
On team Red, you have the AM4 Ryzen 5 5500x3d. One the AM5 platform, you have the R5 7500x3d which to me doesn’t make any sense. Then you have the R7 9850x3d on which if you don’t already have a R7 9800x3d would be the way to go. There are also the upcoming R5 9550x, and R7 9750x. Then if money is burning a hole in your back pocket, don’t mind selling a kidney, there is the R9 9950x3d2.
On team blue, their refresh is a bit easier to understand, and from what I have read, they are actually pretty good. The Ultra 5 250k+, is a great starter gaming cpu at $200. Then the Ultra 7 270k+ offers the best bang starting at $300. One can call it an Ultra 9 that is slightly trimmed, that can out perform the U9 285k.
If I were to get one, it would be the U7 270K+ followed by the R7 9750x.

With my current setup I should be golden for at least 5 years... or until new games exclusivities are only available on cloud gaming platforms.
My other fear would be that something happens to Gabe and then Steam goes into greedy hands.
I haven’t got too deep in Crimson Desert as of yet because I got hooked on the new Resident Evil game. How do you like the R7 9850x3d over the R9 7950x3d? I have a 9800x3d on my machine in my bedroom. I threw it in there instead of my 7800x3d which still works fine, but is in cold storage in case I need a backup. I was testing my 9900x3d to make sure I didn’t fry the chip. The weird part is that my AIO started working norm again in my gaming rig, so maybe a connector came loose even though I checked all of that.
I have heard that CPUs are going to be the next target because of A I, and data centers, and yes it would suck big time if something happened to Gabe.
For a while I was back and forth between team blue and red. Was team blue until the P2 Deshutes, then went team red until the i5, then back to team red. More bang for the buck with AMD imho.
Microcenters have some awesome deals, and I’m hoping to visit one when I visit family come mid month. From all of the experiments that I have been doing, I think that 3dx is “WAY” over hyped while betting a regular “X” chipe would probably do most users just fine, but they get pure pressured from Youtubers into thinking elsewise. I fell victim to it myself. My next cpu will probably be an AMD like the 9700x, or a 7900x because which I’m kicking myself in the head for selling that off. If you are enjoying playing games with what you have, then I have to say that you have a fine gaming machine that can do other stuff. The 9070xt is an awesome graphics care, and I have no complaints with my Hellhound. I have both Red. and Blue. Right now my Ultra m
