Learnin' Art with Vannie~~Opinions?
I love to teach art. I write tutorials, do redlines, offer critiques, and have done a few classes online and panels at cons.
However, I often don't feel up to par to teach anyone stuff. I know a few things, but there is a whole lot I don't know. So I read books and practice things like hands and ellipses in perspective and ankles and contrast and so on.
I started toying with the idea of holding group classes online again, only this time, I'd pick something I want to work on and people can come in and work on the same subject.
Books like Loomis and Bridgeman and more are available online, books that can serve as textbooks for the class. For each session, everyone would work from the same page and see how everyone else does the same thing by using Sketcher over on Artspots.
I was thinking of starting with hands because I am terrible at them.
Just throwing this out there. Suggestions and opinions are welcome. I hope I make some sense, just ask if you need something clarified. I'm super immersed in work right now, coming up to breath for tea and sammitches when I remember to. I meant to make this post days ago but...forgot. But hey I am on a roll! I finished five commissions in the past week despite emotional and canine set backs
Random: I dreamed Alton Brown was skinning thin strips of my flesh off as a form of torture. It hurt and ruined my day. Why Alton, why?!
Edit: Oh, if you happen to have any suggestions as to the areas of art I should work on (what am I consistently sucking at?), I would be most grateful for your suggestions.

FA+

I do like the idea, that's for sure.
This guy seems similar to Villpu though, who is a great study.
And I think that's an awesome idea...hands have always been a pain in the bum for me as well. Feet too!
lol, and random dream is random.

oh alton, how could you ;_;
It would really be great if you would consider joining us for a session or two some time.
I would most definitely be interested in a class of yours, God knows I need it. But I don't own a tablet and am wary to get one because I don't know how good the cheap ones are or if they are big enough etc etc. Any suggestions would really help.
Any idea roughly, what you would charge for dis class on awesomeness?
As for a tablet, you don't need one. Could always use pencil and paper. :>
For this, streaming isn't quite right because other people cant join in on the canvas if they want.
And have you tried JustinTV? I ask as unlike Livestream, Ustream and JustinTV have the ability to join the chat using a regular Irc client, thus enabling logging of conversations about the process.
Would you record the lessons for later viewing? I seem to always miss streams I wanna go to.
Yup that's Samael, 1 of my oldest equine characters. ^^ the larger version of this picture is in my gallery, among others of him. :D
Alton Brown: Was he explaining the science behind it?
Areas of improvement: Lettering. *griiiiiinnnnnzzzz* But aside that um..I think hands/wrists are a good start. I need to do that too.
Nom.
I've been giving free lessons with musical instruments just to get experience with teaching, so I feel like I can relate.
Even though I can't draw.
Which brings me to a question: Would you want more experienced artists in your group, or could some not-so-great people join?
Glad you're getting so much done :3
But Ive made how to draw dolphins, how to color fur, and how to color in colored pencil before.
I've got this heart-wrenching feeling that I am a lost cause, but I've thrown some of my stuff in my scraps folder.
If that makes any sense to you. Just certain things I needed to know where: which drawing materials do I have to use and which textbooks, and maybe where to find them, too.
Other than that there's no particular topic I think you suck at and therefore no certain topic I'd beg you to cover first. Just do what you can do and know to do, and it will still be a whole lot more than what I can provide others with. :)
