It's March! New Story! Announcements! Cookies!
I lied about the cookies. I was just baiting yas.
Anywho, it’s March, and to date I have done zilch regarding my New Year’s journal concerning a story every month. Actually, no, that’s not quite true. I did write out half of ‘Devotion & Desperation,’ the flipside of a previously written story by yours truly. I also wrote out most of a story Rei and I discussed one night after being inspired by some artwork Stonetouch on Deviantart did. I also jotted down ideas, began stories that went nowhere, and played a lot of World of Warcraft and Civilization 4. Okay, so the latter isn’t exactly productive, but it keeps me happy.
Not so much World of Warcraft anymore, but that’s beside the point.
The point is, it’s already March, and while I haven’t kept my own specific resolution I certainly have kept a form of it; I’m writing more, even if I’m not actually posting it. And that, in itself, is awesome. That being said I do have something new for my readers, and I have a few announcements as well! Although one announcement is reserved for a new journal (read: commissions are open! See the next journal for details!).
First off, the something new. Recently Rei posted this picture: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3453758 . I was immediately drawn to it, and not just because it was a drawing Rei did (I think by now it’s quite obvious that I’m not just a friend, but also a fan). I loved the design of the latex takeover; it looked more like an elaborate bodysuit of sorts (albeit very tiny) with the paws, head, and a tail of a lion. So, I simply had to write about it. I fussed with two ideas, both of which are decent, but were both written quite poorly. But then I came up with another idea that involved two characters sharing a similar fate. And thus, ‘Wish’ was written. It’s a very long story, despite such a short title, and I did fuss with whether or not I wrote it to be too long, but the story just kept pouring out. Enough for a sequel? Most likely not, as I like leaving things up to the readers’ imaginations, and I’m already struggling with my ongoing ‘Assimilation’ project. But that aside, I do love this new story. And I think you all will as well.
On a side note I am going to rework those two other stories I began as inspired by that same picture, and post them whenever I get around to it. I am also working on that story I mentioned in my first paragraph concerning inspiration granted by Deviantart’s Stonetouch, and that should be done … well, I’m not making a promise I can’t keep.
Now onto the announcements.
For starters I mentioned that I’m opening commissions. I’m keeping that as a second journal entry so that it’s easier to keep track of, regardless of whether or not I get any bites (I sincerely hope I do, so spread the word!). So, stay tuned for that journal entry following this one as soon as my web browser decides to let me post a new journal.
I also have a new fursona. I’ve adopted a snow leopard; given much of their nature I believe it suits me just fine. Well, rather, I became convinced it suit me just fine when Rei suggested it. Well, actually, this is a longer story than I imagined it. Let me start over.
The other day Rei and I were chatting away, and he wanted to draw something specifically for me while I wrote something. This tends to be one of our typical activities, besides our mutual infatuation with Civilization 4. So, I began writing ‘Wish,’ and I asked him to create a new fursona for me. I gave him the following cues: it must be feline, it must be me similar in style to my kitsune (mm latex clothing), and the goggles are an absolute must. I left the rest up to him. I wrote away, outlining the story, and peeking in on what he was drawing every once and again. I tried not to look too much, though, but I was just blown away at the lineart. The species had yet to be decided, but the overall fursona looked great. Then he began colouring.
Time passed, and his features were brought out even better by the colouring job. But I was still undecided about what kind of cat, so I asked him to decide for me. I didn’t quite know what best fit me, and Rei knows me better than most people that know me, so I trusted him and his instincts. And really, you should always trust a tiger when it comes to cats. So, he thought about it, and then I saw … well … chicken pox all over him. I laughed, he probably scowled, but after some touching up a snow leopard was winking back at me. Literally. The picture has him winking.
So, the snow leopard is light light blue and white, leaning towards grey tones, and he’s your average fit and lean type. His typical outfit consists mostly of latex clothing all in a shade of blue; a midriff tank top, fingerless gloves, bikini briefs (hehe can just barely see ‘em), and leg warmers that run through his toes to stay on. He also wears a pair of loose navy shorts. And, of course, he’s got his goggles atop his forehead, and the cutest mop of hair. All in all… well, I love him.
I named him Skye.
I really cannot put it into words how much it means to me; I was ready for a new fursona, but undecided. And he gave me inspiration. Thanks a ton, Rei :3 He’s an awesome friend, yes?
And as for pictures, I do have a few, but I cannot post them yet. Rei hasn’t posted them yet, and I won’t until he does. Hopefully, though, he’ll have posted some before I move to my new account full-time (hint!) so I can then post them and share them.
Well, let‘s see, one final big announcement… I have created a new account. I’ve a new outlook on life, better goals paramount on my mind than dwelling in the past, I’ve a new fursona, and really… it’s just time to move on. I created my kitsune fursona a long time ago, and it was my first, and while I am fond of him it is definitely time to move on. It has a lot of baggage I’d like to deposit, though I still want to keep the good times close to heart.
Really, I’m moving accounts mainly to clear out my favourites page from all the empty grey squares folks leave behind when they delete submissions, because I’m bored of the Fox McCloud references*, and because I wanted an account name to match my new, improved, and more-me fursona.
Thus
SkyeMcCloud was born.
So over the course of the next week or so I’ll slowly be going through the process of moving to a new account. If you’d like a head-start on watching me, you’re more than welcome to check the new page out and add me, though I do apologize for the obligatory flood of moved stories and art. I’m moving everything here, though I’ll be tossing many of the old outdated stories into the scraps folder of the new account. Just because I want to let go of my past doesn’t mean I’m wanting to forget where I came from.
Also, this is the perfect chance to do some tweaking to a few stories; some of the titles are wrong and such.
On an aside, to those of you who plan to commission me, once complete I’ll be e-mailing you the submissions, and posting them on the new page (with your consent). ‘Wish’ is the last story I am posting under the name FoxyMcCloud. Also, if you haven’t already read my commission information journal then you should probably do so at http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1252838/ . But I’ll get into the commission details in the next journal.
That’s all for this time… er… well, still have the commission journal to go, and then that’s all there will be for now. See you once my browser updates!
*I had originally chosen the handle FoxyMcCloud because Foxy is a nickname my friends gave me, and McCloud is my real life surname. Ironically enough, despite how loathe I am to the jokes, I fully intend to name my son Fox so he may share my displeasure. That, or he’ll just wind up being the hero of the gamer’s club at school.

Very nice, friend. Ironically enough, one of my character incarnations is named Skye Frost.
