In other news, Iiji and I are at SCAD together! It's a small world. :) We may be carpooling to FWA this evening. Just have to finalize plans. :)
I just ask that, mostly, because I started at SCAD eonyears ago as a Sequential Major, became an Illustration major after contemplating the Animation major for awhile there, and, only NOW--- am in Motion Media Design :P Which I don't recommend for everyone, or what you seem to be looking to focus primarily in, at all.
BUT I do share the floor in Monty where the Animation majors work on, plus I've been attending the Contemporary Animation Society's meetings this quarter, which are 8pm-10pm rm311 at Montgomery on Thursdays (super easy for me this quarter since I have a 5-7:30pm Tuesdays & Thursdays class a room away) :3
If I had just gotten into SCAD without the history I already have here behind me, I'd go into their 2D Animation major. They've updated it enough to be relevant to real jobs out there today, and you learn rapid drawing skills like in no other major. But you should keep your foot in the door/ keep minoring in Sequential Art? You'll learn much more about finished storyboarding, timing & layout that way than kids only in Animation do.
Just sayin', it might take a lot of lookin' around, don't discount anything yet; if anything I've found SCAD will focus or specialize it's major courses of study TOO much, so it's better to keep your head up and bounce around different majors/ buildings and professors to truly learn what you want to. :3 *shrug*
WHEN I HAVE A FREE WEEKEND OR TIME FENFENS AND I AN YOU WILL DRAWPARTY prolly onlygirltime if I can finaggle it YES @_@
Just
*kinda been busy thus far waiting on getting a laptop via Disability services/ financial loans etc, so she can umm finish her coursework this quarter, ughlol*
:C
I had to make a hard choice and streamline my coursework for financial reasons. I reach my cap on Stafford Loans this quarter, yet I have two more years to go before I graduate. I decided to stick with Sequential Art because it's what I do outside of class too. Most of the folks I've talked to who are successful in Animation LOVE animation. Most of them experimented with it before going to college and also outside of class. This isn't me. It's possible that after taking animation classes I'd learn to love it, but I already love Comics, Games and Concept Illustration! Now I get to find out if I'm really good at it. :) I got really excited about Storyboarding recently too, but I'm not sure where I'd fit those two extra classes in.
The Contemporary Animation Society sounds interesting! I'll have to check it out. :) And I look forward to our Girl Day Drawing Party. That'll be fun. :)
Ant, you should come to Savannah! Maybe we can talk to the school about bringing you out as a speaker. :)
But when I've made a process of doing digital-shrinky-commission-charms, and I can finally be like "There's not a 50% chance the toaster will eat the original work like candy!" I'll let you know, heh. Urgh :3 Hopefully with puppycharms too.
AND WAS IT MFF YOU SAY, eh <3333
Alrighty then :D
If it's within my power to help a friend, I always will. That's the truth. ptptptptptpt.
*snugs* MFF and/or FC will depend on fundage. Keep yer fingers crossed. :D
