Expanding the Universe: The Discussion Thread

I've been asked a couple of times if people could write in the world created for Foxforce, and my generic answer is yes, please just credit me and Dynotaku, link back to us, and send me a link when it's posted.
But sometimes people have specific questions and I'd like to open this journal so people have a place to post questions.
If it's a question you'd rather keep private though, then by all means send me a private message.

FA+

Firefox breaks so many publishers' guidelines it's positively unreal.
Of course they do it in Japan but a work of such scope would probably not reach a wide enough audience to be profitable anywhere else.
Japan, maybe.
We know that one of Silverfox's boyfriends drives a "'42 McClellan", but we don't know if that's a classic from 1942 or a new car from 2042.
It's not impossible that (for whatever reason) machine and artificial intelligences are just more advanced in this world. It could, possibly, be taking place now or in the recent past.
To some extent, it's not important, because it's obvious that the ICON diverged from our world at some point no later than the US Presidential election of 1860.
It's possible that the divergence occurred before then, but the characters haven't mentioned it, since it never comes up.
Hmm. Well, I guess I'm stuck with that -- it is several decades after 2007.
And of course, if you're writing your own story, there's no big reason to limit it to my universe.
One of the reasons the chimera have implants is to let them use enhanced vision, like in the scene where Silverfox dives and uses a sonar helmet.
Aside from the French, there are four large companies producing chimerae: North American Biotechnology and Combined Technology are US companies; Brandon Biotech is British; Ashita Biotech is Japanese.
Aside from 4094, there's no special weapon or shutoff switch built into chimerae as that would make them useless in military or police service.
I'm not sure why they're anti -- possibilities include religion, or social concerns, or organized labor.
The Clan itself probably doesn't exist -- the American Civil War never happened.
And no, the military and police aren't the only places you find chimerae. Basically, they're probably pretty much anywhere.
He could be much wealthier than he is if he worked at it harder, but he's more or less content to cover his living expenses.
In Technofox, they helped her escape and now they're helping her out with a job.
"New Genesis" is a chimera activist group which claims there's a "suppressed" final chapter to the Book of Genesis where it's explained that God created Man to create chimerae and machine intelligences. But those guys are weird.
I find that the little personal details really help build character.
On that note, what are the foxes individual favorite genres of music?
What are their favorite types of food?
Do they watch any TV? Favorite programs?
Do they have hobbies they enjoy when not being corporate police?
Do they have other mutual friends that they, for lack of a better term, share?
Technofox mentioned liking Techno, but other than that it really hasn't come up. I'd assume that Shadowfox has a large collection of dance music since she's looking for things she can choreograph.
>What are their favorite types of food?
This came up -- carnivore chimerae tend to be meat-and-potato types, potatoes optional. They'd typically prefer a second-rate steakhouse to a first-rate place offering something more elaborate.
>Do they watch any TV? Favorite programs?
A bit. Silverfox mentioned a kid's magical-girl cartoon with a vixen protagonist, and she seems to like horror films.
Tech probably likes science fiction, which overlaps with horror quite a bit. At any rate, she knows that Vincent Price was in both versions of Tower of London.
While it hasn't come up, I can imagine Shadowfox getting quite weepy over "three-hankie" movies and chick flicks.
Firefox doesn't strike me as being into films or TV all that much. I think she'd rather go for a long walk.
>Do they have hobbies they enjoy when not being corporate police?
Silverfox and Jerry are gun hobbyists, and they seem to spend a fair amount of time with that.
Tech and Shadow seem to like a fantasy MMO. Fire's gotten involved in that, so she can play with her friends online. Silver doesn't seem to be into it.
>Do they have other mutual friends that they, for lack of a better term, share?
Nope, just Andrew.
Anyway, there are a few more I'll just throw out to get a better feel of the universe.
If this universe is set in the not so distant future, roughly how far has technology advanced?
Are humans able to obtain all the physical and technological benefits of Chimera?
It was mentioned that Nazi Germany is a European superpower, have they increased their border territory to include much of Europe or are they operating with satellite states?
Is the USSR still active? Are they a nuclear superpower?
To elaborate further, is the cold war active?
Also, to expand on my last question in my first post, do the foxes have relationships outside of the group? I know Silver and Jerry are a good reference, and Shadow seems to have many men on the take, but has Tech or Fire ever had a relationship outside of the Foxes and Andrew? Any old flames that became re-ignited?
Not at all -- that's what the journal entry's for.
>If this universe is set in the not so distant future, roughly how far has technology advanced?
Hard to say. They've got machine intelligences and chimerae, cars and aircraft use electric motors powered by microcapacitors, but there's been no mention of spacecraft.
>Are humans able to obtain all the physical and technological benefits of Chimera?
No. The brain implants use a matrix of wires the brain is grown inside, and most of the enhancements have to be programmed into the genome before the organism is allowed to grow.
Gene therapy is a possibility, but it hasn't come up yet. It could be assumed that doctors are reluctant to mutate their patients.
>It was mentioned that Nazi Germany is a European superpower, have they increased their border territory to include much of Europe or are they operating with satellite states?
Both. Hungary and Romania are German satellites, but Germany has direct control of a fair amount of Soviet territory.
>Is the USSR still active? Are they a nuclear superpower?
Yes, to both.
>To elaborate further, is the cold war active?
Yes, with three main axes: US/UK, Germany, and the USSR. The official policy of the US is to give priority to the Germans.
Both Tech and Fire had some relationships outside the group prior to Blue Diamond; since Technofox Fire and Tech have been paired off. Tech's apparently in contact with her old boyfriend.
What ever happened to Tigre?
I'm not sure if this was ever answered in the actually story.
You're right, though -- it's never stated "she was euthanized" -- it's more implied.
If they do what are they?
Tell me if anything clashes with the world you've already set up.
That said, Britain and Germany / Italy are officially at peace -- there's a significant amount of Free French and other resistance units running around Europe, with covert assistance from the US as well as Britain.
