How to Train Your Dragon

Just started watching it. Do they ever explain why the boy, raised since he was a baby by Vikings, doesn't have the same accent as everybody else? ~_~
Edit: Do they ever explain why NONE of the kids have the same fuckin' accent? To be honest, I know why they did it; so simpleton children can associate better with the children characters. However, it still annoys the piss out of me when they do stuff like that.
All-in-all I'm still enjoying the film as a whole.

There are other series like that where only one person has a accent. Can't think of one of the top of my head though.

It's rather annoying, isn't it? It bothered me through the entire movie. xD

Dude, I may not have been a quick draw in terms of wit and common sense among other things as a kid, but I doubt watching an animation with kid characters my age with a different accent would make it difficult for me to associate myself with them. Hell, as a kid I thought different accents rocked! But I see what you're saying here, though. That is annoying how they always do that in movies like that.

Right!? Why do they just assume that kids are too dumb to understand that people have different accents? x( However, the person below you, Sepulture, made the point that perhaps they couldn't find children voice actors with the appropriate accents.

Only actual reason I can think of... Hard to find children with the accent who can play the part, or hard to teach the ones playing the part the required accent.

That could have been a deciding factor, but I'm sure other countries have capable voice actors. Granted, I'm it's gotta be easier just to find them with no accent locally, but still... I'm fairly certain that Hiccup's voice actor wasn't even a kid.

Well when you and Sepulture put it that way, it does seem easier to find actors locally, but I also agree that I'm sure there are capable ones in other countries. I'm also willing to bet you can find adult actors that are top notch for imitating a kid's voice and accent, but meh...what ya gonna do, right? Still annoying though XD

Lol this is true. Most animated characters who're young have older voice actors.

Yeah, there's not much I can do about it. I guess we'll just have to suck it up. D8

Speaking of accents, I saw a trailer for Iron Man 2 and if you're familiar with Marvel, Black Widow's Russian...so why doesn't she have the accent? DAMMIT! Oh well, I'm still uber geeked to see the movie and her kick ass.
