Considering our dog managed a while back to not only eat her food for the day, but an entire tub of butter on top of it (she got a hold of it somehow)..
I'd say that dogs don't really care. XD

I did read somewhere though that instead of smelling things like we do, animals smell the nutrition in their potential meals. The fats, proteins, etc.
Which is why cats eat earwax, for instance.

There's always plenty of undigested nutrients as your body can't store all of them. It's just they also tend to carry pathogens which is why it's generally not a good idea to eat feces.

The pens actually are interchangable, I believe. I'm sure a graphire pen would work with an intuos. I currently use the pen from a Bamboo on my Graphire4, but, unfortunately, now I have no idea where the bamboo is! D:

Once when I was at living at my parents I came home from work (worked as a graphic designer) and set down my little case that had my tablet in it. Was a 6x8 intuos3. I went to go upstairs and change into comfy clothes and I come down to find my little black pomeranian had knocked the case over, pulled the zipper, brought out the cord of the USB and chewed just enough through it to ruin it.

Furious. But they's dogs. We still love 'em.

When I had a dog it would just chew on plastic items (keyboards, pens, my $50 mouse, etc.) but never would it actually SWALLOW indigestible objects.

My mom's dog did this to my pen. All the suggestions of there may be something the animal is unhappy with like the food and all that other stuff is probably not true. xD All dogs like to chew on stuff. People chew on pencils... and I don't think it's because they want to eat them; it's either fun, a nervous habit, or just a habit in general. (=

Looks like you'll have to get a new one. I'd be pissed as hell, because I use my tablet for EVERYTHING on my computer, even stuff not related to art.

We also have a disposal unit. His name is Bruiser; full blooded pitbull. He ate my glasses. Ate them; the only thing left was a small part of the frames and one rubber nosepiece. The majority of the frames, and both lenses, had been eaten. :|

That's worse than when my 2yr old dunked my tablet pen in my coffee cup when I had a deadline in 2 weeks. Hope you get it replaced soon.

Once my cat used a bassoon reed that I left on my music stand as her new chew toy. I didn't let her in my room after that. Lol

When my wacom pen broke It was cheaper to buy a new tablet. Those things are expensive. I only have a Graphire too :(

I feel your pain. My dog has destroyed: a remote control, two cell phones, a cell phone case, cell phone charger cord, heating pad cord, laptop power cord, one cordless phone, and put a hole in the bed. But once my husband figured out he can't leave his stuff laying around any more (and to shut the bedroom door when he leaves the house), she hasn't eaten anything new. XD

As for your replacement price. Amazing how something so small can be so pricey!!
