I figured I have told everyone I needed to tell about me and all this furry stuff. I have received mostly good reactions from it. There are still a few people I haven't told but it seems that I just don't feel like explaining it to them. There is one friend I known since high school that I commute to work with everyday but for some reason when we talk or hang out its like complete normal mode for both of us. I mean there are wacky jokes and we make fun of things but its just on this level of normality that I don't think I could tell him about furries or if there was even a need to. We're just two guys talking on the way to work. Well, he got a glimpse of my furry life today. I got a new phone the other day and my new twitter client displays user icons very large on the screen. So I'm sitting next to my friend on the bus and he says "what is that?" I tired to play it off and began explaining the twitter client I was using. Then he was like "yeah, but they were all like critters on there" All I said was yup and then continued to scroll through my missed tweets. I knew he was watching me scrolling through a sea of wolf, husky and fox icons. I can only image what was going through his head. I was gonna say something but then I figured screw it. I gotta sit next to the guy everyday on the bus.

I think being furry is just something the world really ain't used to yet. :/
Star Trek fans go through this far, far, far more often then we do. =P

I hope you find out later that he's perfectly fine with it. It's hard to hide something so big about yourself. I think of it as if I ever told someone who didn't know I liked furries I would expect them to realize that after all the time we spent together and me not needing to talk about it, it really doesn't change the person they know at all. I'll still act the same everyday. So no need to worry.
yeah that must look strange, I've had that happen before, kind of :x
If he's anti-furry? Well, not much will change that. Y'kinda know that. If he's just middle ground, whatever. Maybe he's just curious. But if you act like it's nothing... then that's what it is. =)
When I'm in fursuit, though, it usually seems to come up for some reason. Can't a guy just have big ears and fur without being interrogated?!
I bet you could turn him ;3
About 7-8 years ago I joined the Furry Fandom and didn't really tell my rl friends or family either. Things were going good and it was like I was living two seperate lifestyles (kind of like alot of furries do) Anyways I have kept it secret for a long time.
When I went to Furbowl 13 and met you and others, I only told family and friends I was gong to Delaware to hang out with friends and chill really. I didn't really say anything about furries.
Well after that day, my father ended up talking to a friend who used to work with way back in the day and this guy lives in Delaware. Well they started talking and my father said that I was going to go to the bowling alley to bowl. Right away the guy new about Furbowl and said thats why I was going there and he sent him a link to the Furbowl site and I think Wikipedia or something *shrugs* My father then told my mother and it spread around the family quickly. Though they didn't say anything untill a few days before I was going to Furbowl 14.
With me being embarrassed as hell and shy about it, I just let it be and turns out my mother is really helping me out some. Saying that she can me free suits, tails, ears, etc for me and everything cause she's very good at that stuff. As that happened my rl friends knew that I was a furry and was alright by it to. So now my parents know and can make me free stuff, my local friends know and can do art on it and I'm open about my fur life and even brought a friend to furbowl 15 (Igen Mifune)
My advice would be if he asks and really wants to know, just give him small information like "oh their furries" or something. It may seem awkward but it might pay off. Just something I felt like sharing Copper ^.^
One of my other hobbies that I have that has some similarities when it comes to telling people I'm into is motorcycling: With both it's always awkward to tell your folks (usually Mom) that you are getting a motorcycle or explaining furry. When someone finds out I ride a motorcycle there have been numerous times when they have a negative response to it, either telling me I'll kill myself, or asking if I'm one of those assholes that pop wheelies on the freeway at 120mph. likewise, when someone asks and I tell them I'm into furry stuff I've got some negative responses, but mostly I hear "What's furry?" However, kids universally find both the fursuit and motorcycle to be totally awesome.
I don't advertise either hobby outside of it's context, but I don't hide it either. In my house you'll find helmet sitting on a table not far from the fox painting hanging on the wall, and the motorcycle jacket hanging in the same closet as the fursuit.
