What... the... HELL?!? Beware new Micron pens?

General
I finally killed my old Micron pens, ran them totally dry, so I went out and got some new ones. They're supposed to be waterproof and fadeproof. I've been using Microns for ages with my marker pictures. Never a problem.
WHY now are the new Microns smudging?!? I have these HUGE smears of ink all over my picture now, completely ruining it! The ink has had at LEAST an hour to dry before I laid marker to paper. What is up???
*sighs* So my pirate piece that I've been working my tail off on, I now have to try and salvage. This is severely FUBAR. Is there something wrong with the newer Microns, or am I the only one having these problems? Is there a better tech pen I can use?

I hope you can salvage your picture though. *hugs*

micron has discovered a way to make cheaper ink for there product, at the same time keeping there allready set price, the new ink is much more smugeable then before, Ive noticed it aswell.
Sadly one of my new sets of copics done the same thing, but i think it was just because my marker had a insane amount of alcohol in it, (copic marker)

I don't blame you for dropping Micron. I would be SO pissed...
I too am a staedtler lover <3
i still <3 Staedtler!

Are you using a different paper too by chance? Justa thought.
I've tried the Staedlers, but I find that they dry out WHILE using them.. I don't get good solid lines. Then again, the Microns tend to leak a lot more for me... and if I don't notice, I get fingerprints on things.
Then again, I haven't inked a damn thing in a year... so I don't know if anything I have to say has any relevance--if it ever did.
Good luck, tiger.
So yeah...I think that's the issue. @@
i buy them from here.

as for trying to correct it, i use china white from those tiny lil' tubes cheap watercolour sets for school have, and a no.2 brush, and a drop of water. at least i can use colour pencils afterwards without it being noticable. never tried it with markers, but maybe it helps you.
personally i use a 0.35 Rotring Rapidograbh (a technical pen) with Rotring ink. a little bottle last several years for me. :) broader lines are made with Faber PITT ink pens. they come in 0.5 and up, alas no finer pens there. but they have brush pens, too, and a couple of colours.
here in germany microns are found only in large online shops, so i have no experience with them. staedler might be an alternative, though. the fine metal tip of the rapidograph tends to be caught in rougher paper, making inking a bit exhausting.
Still, it's sad to see yet another trusted name join the race to the bottom
and woah, I was wanting to try these markers o_O
Otherwise, maybe the smudging will go away over time. The new pens might be a little loaded right now.
So, I think to use the Copic Multiliner pens would be the best solution. They're quite good, don't smudge, and smooth to use. o.o At least for me. I use them with whatever medium i might have at hand. Watercolors, markers, airbrush. o.o no problem.
Hey, go with a brush and India ink! ;)
Personally, I use either Staedtler, or the Edding 1800 range. Not much to pick between them, although I do find the Edding pens have more durable tips.

If it doesn't look good, it's just not done yet.
I'd be soooo pissed if a faulty ink pen ruined a drawing I had worked my arse off on DX ... That's one of the reasons I work digital >.>
What brand of micron do you use, if you don't mind me asking?
Oh, P.S. You're marker stuffs is incredible. @.@ I had trouble believing it was marker at first lol
And thanks. ^^
