Yeah, I was surprised last night when I read the specs between the two chips.
When we decided to upgrade the thing, I just went online and searched for the fastest chip I could find people being successful installing. I was only looking at GHz, and figured 300 MHz was probably worth the $40. Surprise! There's a much bigger performance boost!

i checked on mine its got a 2.6 best i could up it to is a 3.6 single core it uses the P4 desktop core oh well

That is a bummer. I reccommend looking at brand outlet stores online.

better geek than I. I take PC towers apart pretty regularly anymore, but I'm not sure I have the patience or dexterity to work on Laptops ... of course, I also have trouble reaching the oil filter on my little foreign car :p

I just kept removing screws until it all came apart :p
