Logged into FA for the first time in I don't know how long and found that I seem to have been missed.
I stopped coming to FA because of the prevalence of drawings that seemed to only showcase genitals or outlandish sex acts. I had my maturity filter set to include adult images because I appreciate nudes. I had accepted that this would expose me to drawings I didn't want to see, but I hadn't expected the ratio of those to so completely eclipse the drawings I might have been interested in. I suppose that, as a survivor of a sexual assault, I couldn't really handle it and just left.
Today I logged in looking to get in touch with someone I met at last year's MFF and found a pretty nice note from
Leucrotta (whose art is more than worth a look if you're not familiar with it) and a shout from 
Crystala plus a few new watchers, all of which really surprised me.
With the note saying that I was missed and the shout missing my stories has inspired me to return to my keyboard. I've adjusted my maturity filter to exclude Adult, hoping I'll find that more comfortable. Since I'm probably rather rusty I'll likely go through the Thursday Prompts (currently archived here) one-by-one and see if I can't get back in the swing of things. To that end I've posted my first story in ... looks like 4 years? Cripes. Hopefully I'll be posting 1000-or-so word stories fairly frequently, I'll be aiming for one each day, but I don't know if I'll manage to keep up the pace.

Ironic your return coincides with me posting my first erotic/adult piece in the next week. I wrote it as a prompt to try to get over a writers block I was having on my main project dreamcatcherrpg.blogspot.com which is totally not remotely adult and way less embarrassing than something erotic ;)

I hope things are still well between you and your husband? And that his adult content doesn't unnerve you like all the others. :/
I don't mind his erotic stuff, I just don't look at it that often. I would say my leaving was less of a choice and more of a reaction. I didn't consciously decide to stop checking FA, but looking back at things I realized that it was the overabundance of overtly adult stuff that most contributed to me fading out of the community.
And again, there's the way that furry as a genre and using it just to tackle sex is a little like having an awesome microwave and using it only to zap popcorn. Sex and popcorn are great things, but if that's all you're doing, aren't you missing out a little on how great it is to have a genre, or a microwave?
I like your metaphor, and my microwave isn't even all that awesome. :p
The 'maybe' is because I've come back a few times and it didn't stick. Hopefully I'm here for a good long while this time.

I used to hang out on the forums over there under the name "averagedog" It was a very small community that, if I remember correctly you were a part of. Back then, you were one of the reasons why I followed you to FA in the first place.
Since then, as a TF enthusiast, it really feels like the conglomeration of TF writers that post on FA is shrinking. the TF artists that do tf artwork has also declined while a lot of weirder stuff has made their way onto the tf tags when they really shouldn't be... But that is neither here or there. I'm happy to see the potential return of another writer that does TF stuff :)
I don't remember the comic, actually. If it was a message board back then, it would probably have been Doc's Lab, where I might still hold quasi-mod status... Probably ought to check on that, actually.
As for TF, it's been my experience that what is or is not TF-related is mostly a matter of personal opinion. I've seen people arguing whether strictly mental changes are TF, whether currently available surgical and body modifications are TF, and other such things that I would consider to be on the periphery. When I first started posting stories online, I was actually told that my stories were not TF because they didn't contain erotic elements, so I wrote some bad erotica. Personally I like the idea of TF being a big enough place that we can all play.
But yea, on the subject of TF, I think I should clarify my position a bit. There are a growing number of subgenres within TF that I feel detract from what made TF so appealing in the first place. Mental Changes, Gender Changes, Inflation, Size Changes, Latex/Rubber are not what I am referring to in the least. I mean TF is big enough for tons of creativity. I would love nothing more than to see a story series involving the slow transformation of the protagonist into a monster that involves the struggles, and character development that comes with it, but when you see an image of person A transforming Person B into Person A's butt, then farting, I can't help but wonder how the heck something like that is even allowed to be in the transformation(adult) section and not the Fetish(Other) section...

I dumped a lot of artist for the same reason. I didn't dare open my in box at work and it was all fairly disgusting in any case...
