Draw Muhammed Day

Seriously, why?
Look, I'm all for freedom of expression and such but is it really necessary to go out of your way to deliberately offend the second largest religion in the world? It's not big, its certainly not clever, and it's immature. I know I'm probably going to get a crapload of comments telling me to grow a sense of humour, but I don't care. There's freedom of expression and there's just being a dick for the sake of being a dick. And yes I'd still have written this journal if it were Draw Jesus Day or Draw Guru Nanak Dev Day. Yes the Muslim reaction pretty much any negative criticism is often disproportionate and overblown but this is not helping in anyway, basically it's trolling a large group of people for the acts of a minority within that group; does that sound familiar at all, furries?
In short, do what you like, draw him if you want. I just wanted to rant a little bit; this journal is going to do bugger all really.

FA+

But I have to agree 100% with you. I was surprised when I first heard of this day myself. I mean, I see the humor, but is it worth antagonizing an entire religion? Especially considering how touchy they are on this subject.
Somehow I don't think Draw Jesus Day or Draw Guru Nanak Dev Day would cause quite the same level of uproar. But then again, I'm not sure who Guru Nanak Dev is anyway. ^^;;
But on a different note I think this day is taking place to show that the prohibitions of another religion do not apply automatically to everybody. For example because mormons are not allowed to drink coffee that doesn't mean you cant. I know its not the right comparison but that is the best one I could come up with right now.
I think I will just sit back and watch what happens.
