I'm trying to do what I can to keep new art on Furbuy. I drew stuff for T shirts this week, but I'll try to get a new color pic for Furbuy shortly.

I read elsewhere that Furbid is having issues with a policy of keeping your personal information forever. A seller there decided to drop Furbid, asked to have their account removed and was refused, told that the information was now the property of the Furbid administrator and they would decide what would be done with it, not the actual seller/account holder. That sort of irresponsibility is simply inexcusable. I expect there will be more people fleeing that system as the admin there continues the downward spiral of instability.

Yeah, so that's what now? Over-judicious use of the ban-stick, creating new policies at a whim on-the-fly because he does/doesn't like this or that, locking people out of the message boards for EVER criticizing their site, banning people who complain of fraudulent sellers... And now, not gracefully dealing with users and their private data. Nice guy. Oh wait, is it a he or a her? I can never tell. =P AlohaWolf refers to it as "creepy boy". =D

Let's be nice. I can only base what I hear on what people are posting and that may be biased. I can understand if someone who was banned is upset and may be opinionated. I have to give that some amount of speculation. When a person who had no problems with Furbid directly but just wanted to close their account and was essentially told no, then that is an opinion that I have to respect a bit more than most.

Furbid's admin has a history of changing their story depending upon whom they are talking to at the time.

I'm speaking from experience. I've either had those things happen to myself or have spoken directly with people who have had it happen to them. I've also talked to people who work with "him" who don't have anything nice to say about him at all. I neglected to mention THAT in my first reply because it's more biased and judgmental than factual, I tried to stick to just facts.

That looks like a lot of stuff, but very few bids.

A lot of it is pretty new. And, well, bids depend a lot on the quality of the work, the popularity of the artist, and how much the seller pinps their stuff on things like FA, LJ, FAP, MySpace, etc. It's that way with any auction site.

Very few? o.O Take a look around, this is pretty average on any auction system... Even Furbid. And quite honestly, after about a 4-year stint of very little activity on FurBuy, this is damn exciting stuff! In the last month, about 50% of our auctions have ended successfully with sales. That's a pretty admirable rate by any standards. As long as we can keep quality artists using the system, things will stay that way. The money goes to where the a) talent, b) big-names and c) subject matter of interest lies. We had all three of those backing the system when FurBuy started, some of the biggest names in furry fandom were beta-testing FurBuy before Furbid came out.

Furbuy is not a site that I would go to just to browse for artwork for sale. There isn't enough to warrant that, but by the same token, I don't do that at Furbid either because the overall quality of the content there simply isn't what I'm looking for.

I'm really eager to see the linking of FA and Furbuy. The ability to have my watchfor list here pop up with links to art I like and stuff I can immediately bid on will result in me buying far more art than I would if I was just browsing.

It has a lot of potential.

True, true. 50% does sound good when there has been very little activity in the past. What are the average number of bids per successful sale?

I've been meaning to build some reports along those lines but haven't had time yet. Right now my main thrust is working on the new site design, which is a massive undertaking. Every single page and script that makes FurBuy run is being re-written to use a new CSS design system that will give us greater flexibility in the future to not only easily re-skin our entire site, but co-brand our system to ANY site out there. I'm also upgrading and tweaking a number of things as part of that process which will make the site smoother and more upgradeable in the future in the process. It's pretty exciting. =)

Not much of a bidder, since I tend to stick to eBay and not really buy art outside of personal commissions.

But.... uhh.. I'm buying something from your cafepress next check. :D
