Well, as far as a DVD release of Phoenix 2772: that's a good question. I've been working on upping the quantity and quality of the content of Osamu Tezuka and his works. To find them, go to www.wikipedia.org and search for "List of Osamu Tezuka manga" in the search box. It's a work in progress, but worth checking out.

If I hear anything about the DVD releases, I'll be sure to let you know.

As for your second question, I'm VERY sure that they aren't furries. If they were, I'm sure I'd know.

Also, furry fandom is still relatively new, so somehow I doubt it's genetic.

I know a lady whose the mother in an all-furry family. Mom, Dad, son, and daughter are all raccoons...even the daughter's boyfriend is a Furry, though not a raccoon.

Eh, I'd say it was some common infulence... My dad once went to the lengths of making a very low budget werewolf film with his student pals back in the day... Not sure if that has some effect.

Never heard of the anime (what the hell is Astro Boy? D: ), but as far as furryism being genetic, they're probably not related at all. If furryism were genetic, then every other fetish would be too. I've never heard of a family of pedophiles, or a family of beastophiles, or a family of anything. To a certain extent, it can be compared to homosexuality in that obviously it is not genetic, since if it were, it'd be incapable of being passed on unless a gay man were to have sex with a woman for a baby or donate sperm or something like that, y'know? And the parents who spit out the homosexual baby are obviously not homosexual, right? Of course,

Don't get me wrong, though, furryism and any other fetish is obviously inate and in the brain. I'm fairly sure that I've had the feelings of a furry for quite a long ways back into my childhood, and I'm sure anybody else can agree they did too. Whatever it is, though, I'm pretty sure it's not a genetic thing.

Now, if you HAVE heard of a family of whatever-fetish, that would be because the parents or whomever raises the child/children are exposing them to that fetish either directly or indirectly, and the child/children are unknowingly picking up on it and assimilating it into their own thinking. If, for example, your family has always eaten nothing but raw pig heart as their meat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, than, for at least the duration of your stay with your family, you're going to also eat nothing but raw pig heart. Even when you leave, you're going to be slightly wary and maybe even revert back to only the heart, just because it's the only meat you know. This is more of a sociological thing, though, not a genetic or psychological one, so I guess I'm digressing. Oh well.

I later found out that it wasn't a "I want a pet Wookie too!" syndrome, but that she wanted to have sex with him. O.o I asked her "Are you SURE you're not a closet Furry?" and I never got a reply. Never mind the fact that she seems to identify as a Badger. >.< So, who knows.

the furry community is pretty much full of young blood at the moment, the average age ranging between 18 and 24... and the extremes are uncommon.

for that matter, I believe my parents are... half and half. they know it's a kink, not their thing, but they like it well enough for the cuteness and such (I keep them VERY sheltered o.o).

If my folks knew much about the fandom, they wouldn't turn their backs on me... but the appearance the fandom has that it's nothing more than a porn fest for sexually supercharged hormonal mass production lines with some very unusual and unnerving kinks... would definately mean it's something forbidden to be let out into the public. I agree with them to an extent. I also believe that people thinking furries are just a bunch of perverts is a self inficted stereotype. I go to Dragon*con usually every year and I see all kinds of artists and celebs and there never is a real air of "I specialize in drawing porn." yet at furrycons it's a small enough circle where there's a better chance to find all out spooge porn on the table in a three ring binder than it is to find an illustrator there that doesn't draw a LOT of porn. Not to mention last year at Dragon*Con a couple of fursuiters acted out a hentai scene... in the doorway of the hotel... in broad daylight. A wolf and a squid I believe.

But yeah, what little involvement in the fandom my family knows about is kept within just a VERY few of us, and they know that I'm not a raving sex maniac who likes to have sex with people in costumes who I never get the name of or see the face of.

I think my mom had little, if any sort of furry inclination. My dad doesn't really either, but he's very open-minded, and fully accepting of it in me. He's very understanding of it, too, and considered various reasons for it, explanations, etc, including a couple I hadn't thought of or seen before. That said, he has indicated that he's had a couple of fantasies that could be construed as being furry in nature. He also wants to go to Anthrocon sometime. I wouldn't actually consider him to be furry, tho.

Well, Furry, as I understand, hasn't hit the mainstream till lately. Furrs that have kids, probably have really young kids. And hey! Not just strait furrs have kids. I don't have a kid yet, I'm way to young, but I know I want to raise a child someday. Whether I get a birth mother to agree or adopt. ^_^ Gee... It's a little early to talk with Gen about that, though.

Haven't heard of the anime, and no way in hell are my parents furs :P
