I'm gonna have to go with the Dutch. I think the USA would have made it further though if not for corrupt refereeing, especially because of that "tie" game that should have been a win. FIFA needs to incorporate instant replay like every other modern sports organization.

Yes for instant replays. But it was to call it corrupt is silly. Now INCOMPETENT, thats a good word to use! Don't expect instant replays anytime soon (or ever in fact). Decisions based on instant replays will never happen in football. This is a sport where we wont even introduce goal-line technology which shows conclusively the simple fact of whether the ball even crossed the line or not. This is how backwards an institution FIFA actually is.

For how good the individual players are in the Spanish team, the Germans look ridiculously solid as an attacking force. Even with their defensive frailities (and they are frail at the back, seriously) they're so good going forward, picking holes in any backline with ease, I'd fear for you, especially with how cumbersome and clumsy Puyol can be at times (even Pique has his silly moments). That said, they certainly aren't exactly going to tear you apart like they did Argentina and England (even as an Englishman myself, I had to laugh at how bad we were ahahaah SO PROUD I WAS). It'll be close. I really daren't call it.

Well, England was a good team, they just failed at that match x3;;; I think this match, Spain vs. Germany, will be really open since they're two different styles and they both like to play the ball, so nobody will get bored watching them, don't you think? ;3

Considering that just about every other team I've rooted for has been knocked out (USA, Ghana, South Africa, etc), I just might root for them (Spain...I really did wish Ghana did advance, but whatever ><, it's not the end of the world), and besides that, it'll be interesting just who will win.

Maybe so, maybe not. A lot of things have happened that argubly should have not, at the same time, there's been quite a few surprises, and it'll be interesting who will win, more so given yesterday's results.

I realize it happens but I do find myself in something of a bind when 2 teams I'm rotting for end up against each other, be it South Africa vs Mexico, Ghana vs Germany or Ghana vs USA (which was going to be bittersweet even if USA did win given Ghana was the only African country that advanced to the round of 16 matches, and then came the quarter final match ><...again it's not the end of the world but still), and even now I'm sorta in a 'let the best team win' mindset with a bit of 'go Spain' at this stage since it would be something for them to win (I'd say something about Ghana but I've already made it clear I wish they would have a shot at winning, maybe in 2014), we'll see just who wins.

I'd say more but now I'm rambling, so I'll stop here.

Well I admit I am not a soccer fan, and rarely watch it but since 2006 I kinda enjoy the world cup matches.
Germany came sort of out of it's closet since then and it's nice to see people around here still got some life and passion in them. (Even if most of it looks incredibly stupid and embarrassing... it's still funny though ^^)

So after what I saw so far it looks like the german team is in a sort of "flow" condition atm, so if they keep that up chances are not too bad they might even win the whole thing.

But as I saw the last matches against england and argentinia, both opponents defenses looked to me like they weren't existant. Englands keeper pretty much always ran so close to the shooter he just got circum-played which really looked stupid. And argentinia's defense ... well ... there was nobody NEAR the goals when they got hit.

And now the dilemma: I'm from Germany but my Mom LIVES in Spain... so I'm kinda rooting for both ^^

I agree Argentina and England were no rivals for German's style... Spain, on the other hand, has a solid defence but still wants to attack all the time. Both teams are similar and different enough to let us enjoy a nice match :3

It's gonna be a tough match. Spanish league has been very exhausting for Spanish player and they are not at their bests in this World Cup. We haven't reached the level of game that made us win the UEFA Euro 2008 Championship, and definitely the team of Germany is better than two years ago. In my opinion, Germany has more posibilities to reach the final...

As much as I really really really want Spain to win this year, the Germans are looking pretty damn sharp. It may be time for David Villa to pull some magic out of the hat again, though it could finally be time for Torres to shine (hopefully, anyway. He's not had a very good tournament so far >: ). But unless that happens, I think it may well be a Holland / Germany final.

Then again, I thought Argentina would beat Germany and Brazil would be Holland, so who knows :B
