After ripping open the bottom of my laptop and fiddling around (with guidance from peeps on Twitter), the laptop is working again - albeit with a gigabyte less RAM.
So the laptop is working, just not as well. It's pretty much disabled, alive but functionally retarded. Urf... still hoping to get a new computer before university mind. This one won't last 'til the end of the year.
And just like on Doctor Who, it was very ominous to open up the laptop and see the crack across the outside of the case extend all the way inside too. Who knew that steel could shear that easily?
