Hello, I’m Fur Affinity user alexgrey.
You’re probably reading this because you followed this account during the period that it was active from 2010 to 2012. I don’t know why, exactly; maybe you liked my attempts at art, maybe you enjoyed my writing, and maybe we were just friends.
And on the 11th of July 2012, I callously destroyed that relationship.
I cannot say I regret the act of leaving the furry fandom—I feel my reasons were justified given my experiences and position in life at the time—but I do regret, quite badly, how readily I disengaged from those I knew. How I failed to maintain connections.
Two and a half years ago I reevaluated my time in the fandom and how it had compared to other fandoms I’m heavily involved in, and determined that my disenfranchisement with the furry fandom was, in many ways, the result of my own actions. I involved myself once again with the local furry community, made a new fursona, made some new connections and re-established some old ones.
But that doesn’t erase the guilt I feel at dropping those connections in the past.
So here is my attempt at redemption: I’m sorry. I failed to keep in touch, I failed to value what we had, and I failed—in that time—to be a good person and a good friend. In a way the journal header that has sat here, unchanged for nearly seven years, is more relevant than ever.
I don’t expect forgiveness and I don’t expect things to return to how they were. They can’t. The world has changed, you’ll have changed, and I most definitely have changed. But to everyone I once knew, consider this an olive branch: I want to make amends, and if you want to too, I’m waiting. A tweet, comment or message is all it takes.
Thank you for listening,
~ Kimberly Grey
P.S. Other than this journal I intend to keep this account untouched. If you want to see my more recent attempts at creativity, I can be found over at collargogglebirdhorse.

You did nothing wrong - All you did was what you felt was the best for yourself. Sometimes, people need a fresh start, or break off from who they are, and that's fine. More than fine.
Please don't think that people hold this stuff against you. It's your life, and as long as what you're doing feels right, more power to you.
You're fine, man. Please don't stress yourself about this. It's all good.
