Ah...I see. Well, yes it is drawing on a theme, but there was a specific term for it when everyone draws together on that theme. I just remembered, it's called an ART JAM Basically, someone decides a theme for the day or week or whatever, and everyone draws based on that topic. For example, if the theme were chunky bunnies, then everyone would draw chunky bunnies and the like

Oh gosh, I love Disney movies so much. x3 In fact today, listening to music from Snow White helped to keep me from completely breaking down over my cat. I know it sounds silly, but...ffff, well I am a silly person. x3

My favorite Disney movie is 101 Dalmatians. :D But I love all of them.

*hugs again* There were lovely songs in that film. My favorite was "Someday My Prince Will Come". I really loved the Barbara Streisand rendition of that song, too. And for a long time, 101 Dalmatians was my all time favorite movie!! It took a long time for something to conquer it and that movie happened to be Beauty and the Beast and then, the Lion King came around and just broke all bounds

I actually Watched Disney moviez over the Summer cause It helped me Fall Asleep, all on VHS an somebody Recorded over a Few....

The 1st 2 Moviez I Ever remember Watchin in any Theater were Disney, seen Bambi in a Drive Thru over in Long Beach when I waz 3 an The Fox and the Hound in the Theater near me 4 my Birthday the same Year....

They both Had some of Best Owl characterz Ever....

I used to watch Disney films before/while going to bed, too. It was nice having them as the last thing I saw before going to sleep.

You know, I didn't see Bambi until I was in high school!! I just decided to rent it one day and really enjoyed it. But, as far as owl characters went, I liked the one in the Fox and the Hound a little better. She was sweet.

Yeah, I swore My Pre-School teacher waz Big Mamma after I seen it cause She Sounded just like the Owl an I ended up Attending the Daycare center she waz In Charge of during a few Yearz in Elementary School an I've alwayz stayed in Contact with her....

Oh that would be really neat! I don't mind doing Tarzan and I do like the jungle book characters, along with the show Tailspin. My favorite Feline characters though villians are Shere Khan and Scar, love their voices. The beast and Beauty and the Beast is also an interesting character.

Of course you'd like Tarzan the best That was a very good movie. I showed it to my nephew when we went to AC. It was the first time he'd ever seen it. It cracked him up. I think Terk was his favorite character in the entire movie Beauty and the Beast is my second all time favorite Disney movie!!

Ahhh Bambi, the most Delicious....DRAMATIC! Uh, Dramatic Disney movie ever made. Move made me hungr..........SAD! YEAH! That's it...Sad.

Bambi and The Little Mermaid are my two tied favorites for first. TLM was the first Disney movie I ever saw in theaters, and Bambi is the very first Disney movie I can remember watching as a small child in the living room of the trailer I grew up in.

I saw Bambi late, like when I was in high school late But, it was an excellent movie and very touching, too. I love the world they created in the Little Mermaid. It was gorgeous! I love the water which made that an easy favorite for me. The series was really good, too

It would be nice to see some Disney fan art that can actually be shown to children. Sounds fun :)

I love Lady and the Tramp. That has great memories for me and was a real classic The Aristocats is, of course, wonderful and I do like the Rescuers...although, I enjoyed the Rescuers Down Under a little more ...you know, I never saw the Great Mouse Detective.

Nah, I just assumed she was the daughter of some wandering lion Or, possibly she was the daughter of the lion who maintained the pride before Mufasa. Mufasa could have come in and taken over just after Sarafina conceived such that when she gave birth, he wouldn't have noticed that it wasn't his. ...wait, the is gotten too far into the realm of National Geographic and Discovery Channel Nala is not related to Simba by blood and that's that!

Agreed, we need more Disney and Don Bluth fan love. ^_^ I think it would be cool to either draw some of the famous anthros as ferals or some of the ferals as anthros. The Aristocats would be interesting for that one, I think.

The Lion King, primarily. An alternate version of Lion King 2, an alternate history for Zira and a side-story of the meerkats that makes use of the fact that Timon is named... Timon. I'd work with more Disney stuff but I never seem inspired.

Oh! And Bolt. I did one Bolt/Mittens post-movie romance, and I've got another one almost finished.

You know, I never got around to seeing Bolt, but I hear that it was a really good film

I saw it seven times in theaters. It was extremely cute, had a nice message and you could really easily read cat/dog romance into it.

I almost forgot, I also used to do a LOT of 101 Dalmatians the series fics and shorts for forums. I've even got one here, "The Sergeant's Wedding."

Disney, especially in the older days, ruled! Funnily enough, though, I can only remember two movies I ever saw in the movie theater; the first was Who Framed Roger Rabbit, with my parents and my grandmother, and the other one was, yes indeed, the Lion King, which I saw together with a friend (I still feel bad for making the father of the family sitting behind us choke with laughter at the most touching and sad scene of that movie and having a hard time keeping it in all the way til intermission... ).

Of course, my all-time favorite is the Aristocats... I had such a huge crush on Duchess! I still kinda do, actually... And ohmigosh, Scat Cat and his band of alleycats were amazing! I also have... let's see...

Lady and the Tramp. 101 Dalmatians. 101 Dalmatians 2; Scamp's London Adventure. 101 Dalmatians, the real-live action movie. Robin Hood. Oh yes, and the Emperor's New Groove (I actually only bought that one for the single reason John Goodman was one of the voice actors... and boy was it ever a great decision because that movie is, to say it in plain, blunt words; balls-out fun! )
And I have seen The Rescuers, The Rescuers Down Under, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Atlantis, Wall-E, and part of the Hunchback of Notre Dame.
I still have to see the Great Mouse Detective (back in those times, the weekly Donald Duck we have a subscription to ran the comic of the movie in the magazine and I read the whole thing with rapture!)

Yes, I saw the Aristocats pretty late, too, like when I was out of high school! But, it was a very good film, too. I did like Duchess and Thomas and I like the male kittens, but Marie I just found annoying! How many times did Thomas have to save her????!!

Ha ha! Ohmigosh! That was exactly what I was thinking! I mean... she fell off the railway bridge; check. She fell off the back of the milk truck; check. Thomas had to carry her by the time they reached the outskirts of Paris; check. She... well, I don't even have to list them all, do I? Hee hee, by the time she went like "Mama, mama, help!" for the umpteenth time, I was thinking to mmyself; "Yeesh, again?!"

And she was a whiner, too... always running to mommy to tell on her brothers!

Mmm, I also must admit I like the old cartoon movie upon which The Aristocats was based a lot better; Gay Purr-ee! Ohmigosh, with Judy Garland voicing the lead character Mewsette! (to whom, by the way, Duchess bore an almost eery resemblance ) I didn't know though that John Goodman also voiced Baloo in the Jungle Book sequel! But I'm not surprised; that's a role just perfectly fitting for him!

I also wonder how many people know that Disney cut out a HUGE part of the original 101 Dalmatians story, and in their movie version completely omitted the third adult Dalmatian, the stray female named Anita with the liver-colored instead of black spots... but I guess now I'm just flaunting

From what I could find out, Ken Anderson came up with many of the concepts for the Robin Hood characters.

Yeah, the CGI thing took something away from them, I think. Pixar is great, but Disney has begun to slip over the years.

Its too bad that Disney bought out pixar though, in their own respect, they wanted to become separate from disney entirely at one point.

I think it was a win/lose situation. Right now, Pixar is bigger than ever thanks to the Disney name. At the same time, though, they don't have as much freedom as they had before. But, when they do break away, eventually, they'll be a name that everyone knows.

They re-released The Great Mouse Detective on DVD a while ago. It reminded me how good that movie was. My sister and I used to watch it on VHS when we were younger.

Bolt's definitely worth watching.

I do Disney inspired stuff!! Although it's not really furry... Yeah, I darw the trains, or draw trains inspired by Disney. Such as the "Emma Nevada", which was owned and operated by Ward Kimball. One of Walt's "Nine Old Men". Walts inner circle of creative masterminds and animators. (oh geez, there I go ranting again...)

Oh, I'm familiar with the "nine old men". I studied animation in college and so you had to know about that amazing bunch of people. I especially remember Olllie Johnston and Frank Thomas

Yeah, the last of the nine old men passed away recently in '08. It's sad that they've all gone on. But, they'll never be forgotten.

That is very true. I just hope that we see more of that classic 2-D animation, but with a decent story. (I was rather dissapointed with "The Princess & the Frog") ^^;

Actually, I was blown away by the Princess and the Frog. I thought it was great. It really touched back to the classic Disney films of the 80's - 90's.

Well let me be more specific. I LOVED the quality of the animation. And there were a couple of parts I liked. (non that I can name off hand) ^^; And I really like the moral of the story. But I also think that there were a little too many musical numbers and not enough story/plot. But these are just my opinions.

I would like to see them make another movie inspired by one of their rides, like what they did with "Pirates of the Carribean". Me and a friend are doing something like that. Taking the "Big Thunder Mountain RR" ride and making a story about it.

I'm not actually familiar with that ride.

A backyard railroad and two miniature railroads indoors. It was on one visit to Grizzly Flats that Walt Disney himself took the throttle and was bitten by the steam bug and inspired to include steam-hauled trains in the new amusement park he was planning for Anaheim.

As they say, the rest is history!

Actually, Walt was bitting by the Steam bug LONG before then! IT was "exposed" to train when he was a meer child when living in Marceline. Almost on a daily bassis he saw steam trains roll by and on occasion got to meet the soot and coal covered engine crews.

I'm a bit of a train buff and rail fanatic, so I know these things. XD

Oliver n Company is one of my favorites. I always cry when I see it. I cry with Fox and the Hound too, but Oliver feels better. And The Lion King just is in a league of its own.

I think a lot of fan art is for webcomics or other things that are made by ppl in the fandom, because then you can give your art to the creators personally, make them feel special, and often even get a thank you note, or it may even get posted in a (or the) fanart gallery of you're lucky.
If i were to draw a piece of TLK or Oliver fanart, I doubt anyone from Disney who brought the idea of these movies to life will actually ever see it, and make them happy. So in a sense it seems less rewarding. The fandom has a very big social component, and that is missing a little when you make Disney fanart. So when I made Disney fan art, I did it solely for my own enjoyment. And back then, I didn't have my own set of personal characters to draw about yet.

In that light, I think there is actually quite a bit of Disney fan art around. Especially the lion king, if only by the vast abundance of lion drawing artists that have a very TLK style of drawing. :)

Yeah, you may be right about that. And I'm not saying that there isn't a lot of Disney fanart, I'm just saying that there's a surprisingly small amount here on this site which is dedicated to the furry fandom. And the amount that is here is mostly porn. It's kind of disheartening, though. With all the amazing anthropomorphic characters that came out of that company, there's a surprisingly small representation of them here that holds them true to their character.
