I have a rather difficult time with fursonas, too. Its mostly because I feel like I'm forcing myself to have an identity. True, I to get detached from humanity, but I feel more like a singular entity, not a member of another species.

I had the same frickin' problem man.

Biggest thing I could tell you: It's not set in stone. Don't pick something because it has strength and weaknesses like you... pick something cause you like it.

Worst case scenerio, 4 months down the line you're like, "this is retarded..." and you can change it. Easy.

The problem is, I liken myself more to a formless god then an animal, lol. I can assure you that my ego is not that large, though. My primary affinity has always been with canines because I understand them and interact with them well, but I just can't help but feel as protective of them as I feel superior.

Though in the end, I'm nothing more then a genius ape who taught himself to be tame. That's really the only difference between myself and them.

What I tend to have instead of fursonas are characters. These tend to represent different sides and aspects of myself, but none of them are my ideal self. I may also include attributes from other people that I liked as well.

That's what I did before I got a fursona too. These characters were a lot less limiting too. Like, one was albino, and another was a female, and another was a military guy. Some of the had nonsense attached to their personalities, but alot of their personality came from my own.

So I totally get what you say. Still, I had a LOT of fun designing my 'sona!
