I got a Bamboo for not too much, I think seventy bucks.

Has been well worth it, especially to start. Sometimes people get rid of theirs cheap because the pen stops working, but it's a simple case of taking out the tip and cleaning it

I agree with Red Pilot. I picked up a Bamboo for around $70 and it's worked really well. Plus the textured surface feels like paper when you draw on it.
