I was pondering feral cat colonies, as a friend of mine just moved into an apartment which houses a small, young colony next to it, and during my research I discovered this video. This spay technique (spay = alter a female; neuter = alter a male) was developed for use with feral colonies, and is now spreading into private practices. As the doctor says, the less time under anesthesia, the better, and this also allows one veterinarian to spay huge numbers of animals in a day at relatively low cost, which is why free or low-cost spay and neuter clinics can exist and assist the public.
