Just try not to laugh at them when they run into the walls and wear lampshades on their wee little heads! And don't even get me started about all those calories... overweight fruitflys...ewww }:=)
Take trash out every couple days, rinse beer bottles/cans before putting them in the recycling, don't leave dishes in the sink. How we got rid of them :P
It's not beer so much as the moisture. All you have to do is clear out anything that stagnates or decomposes for three days or so. Then they'll be gone. If they keep coming back it's possible they're coming from outside.
Put some fruit in a bowl, cover bowl with saran wrap, poke minuscule holes with just the tip of a fork or toothpick. They can get in, but they find it VERY hard to get out.
Yes, when you breed fruit flys you breed them on a yeast like paste . I did this in Biology class in Highscool. We did it for a genetics and heredity experiment. Like one of the posters said above to get rid of them you need to keep every thing dry. They are correct about the drains too. However when I worked at pretzel shop (Where we used yeast regularly) We had to dump a small amount of bleach down our drains. that gets rid of them.
One way that we got rid of our infestation is actually really cheep to do. You don't need to buy anythign really and it actually works. You need a paper bag and a fruit of some kind. Put the fruit in the bag and leave it open about an inch. They go in and for some reason don't come back out. THen a day later close the bag really quickly then take it outside.. You can let it sit out there for a few hours or just dump it. You can use the bag again but throw the fruit out cause they tend to lay their egss in the fruit.
It keeps the flies in the bag and outta your house, plus it gets rid of them after a few days. :3
1. Fill a disposable cup with Honey.
2. Cover cup with plastic wrap
3. Poke a hole about a half inch in diameter in the center of the top.
4. Wait for the little bastards to die (they will fly into the honey and get stuck)
5. Dispose and repeat as needed!
When I was younger, I poured a bit of vinegar in a dish and put honey around the edge. They'd land to get at the vinegar and get stuck in the honey and die.
Also, I've heard fruit flies like to hang out in dirt until something attracts them. Don't know if you have any potted plants in your house or not.

Easy.
The paper things that hang from the ceiling actually work as long as you keep food (and apparently beer) from their greedy little buggy reach.
not that hard
When we got drosophila over infestation at bio labs, fly paper works great~

*ahem*
I mean that totally blows :(
Drink really strong spirits instead of beer.
Become non alcoholic.
