Yeah, that totally sucked ass. I found it really disturbing that Hiccup would just leave Toothless behind with no explanation, and the the way he was jumping around like he didn't have an artificial limb was rather odd. The humour was kind lame as well, or maybe there was just too much of it. The 2D animated bits were kinda cool (reminded me of the beginning of Kung Fu Panda), but they probably only did that to cut costs. I'm guessing they kept out Toothless to save money on animation as well. Overall, a real disappointment. The fans want Toothless, and if they can't deliver him they shouldn't have bothered with this short.
Yeah, I was pretty much WAITING for them to start running from the Boneknapper purely to see Hiccup stumble or fall or something, only to find out that apparently Hiccup can run flawlessly on his artifical leg
TOTAL AGREEMENT!!! I was looking forward to it all week and not even a little toothless!! It only lasted like 10 minutes too. I was so let down I cried and went to bed early. The only thing that makes me happy about it is that it might lead to a series based on the movie, like they did with penguins of madagascar and back at the barnyard.
I understand exactly how everyone feels. Toothless is a requirement.
But from a more positive view, it wasn't all that bad. Obviously, it's a precursor to launch the series, and it definitely raised my hopes. The animation and graphics are of great quality (unlike PoM and Barnyard, which lack any real work in motion or texture), and instead of taking that low budget out on the CG, they did some smooth 2D animation to meet the money limits. Looking at it as a whole, I think it did quite well, and spells hopeful tidings for the TV series.
But when you get to the knitty-gritty... yes... serious lack of Toothless. D:
If I had to guess, it could've been a scene from the movie that was dropped, but picked up again for the short, the mostly-absence of Toothless possibly being from before the humans and Dragons were helping each other, and Hiccup's movements being that the rig was originally animated with the model of him before he lost his foot.
Not poking fun, just I went into the movie >expecting< pokemon, and pleasantly surprised to get awesomely NOT pokemon. Then someone said the tv series is gonna be very pokemon (like new dragon each episode, learn its specific quirks and what level you can teach it Dig, etc), and that makes me sadface. X3
Though that video is kinda cool, I do still think the first intro theme was badass. XD
Even though Toothless wasn't in it. (Well, he was, but not for a long time. But still cute.) You had to love those stories Gobber was telling everybody. Honestly, it was fucking hilarious. Right?

Oh well, gonna get the blu-ray tomorrow anyway.~
>Omit the dragon
Wat
But Thor saying "Wait for it..." made me chuckle
Man, I love HTTYD, but that short was kinda lame! :{ (Though I adored the animated bits!)
BUT ALL YOU TOOTHLESS LOVERS CRAVE THE TOOTHLESS. So I understand~
