Inkbunny. An art website aimed to artist who are tired of waiting for years before FA improves itself.
(Yes, I am trolling, but do not tell me I am wrong! ;P)
Although I like FA for its simplicity, the only reason I don't try out InkBunny is 'cause I don't want to be having to deal with two galleries at the same time. Also, most of my friends are here.. but friends can be coerced >.> <.<
Yes, I know this is a problem, but the admins of Inkbunny are trying to work hard to create a tool that will allow the website to replicate the upload you do on other websites. Oh well, about your friends, they will maybe change their mind the day FA will be down again. ;)
I wouldn't say "Trolling"; history has proven that when there's no competition, the leader stagnates.
Many art galleries were created because the existing ones weren't filling up a necessary gap or just wasn't well administrated. However, a site like FA would be hard to administrate with unpaid part-time people. However, I do welcome additional gallery options, even if I don't join them, if only in the hopes that it will force a wind of change amongst FA's administrative body on how things are handled and updates.
Again, I understand that most of the work done is here is for free, but it doesn't change the fact that some features were requested and promised and still not delivered after more than 2 years. :\
Getting a userbase is easy. Keeping it is hard. And the way that things went into complacency here at FA, I can see the day where mass migrations will happen. Maybe to InkBunny, maybe to Furocity, maybe even to BlueTaboo (Though they've been "coming soon" for over a year - that's one hell of a coitus!!).
I'd just like to see things going again. :\
Well, that's why I encourage people so much to switch to Inkbunny: the development team is the most open to dialogs and requests I have ever seen, new features are added several times a month, the features are unique and never seen anywhere else (email sent for PMs you receive, unique submissions options—try uploading a character sheet over there and you'll see what I mean—, submissions obfuscation based on white/blacklists, and so on, I couldn't cite them all).
FA, on the other hand, has not updated since 2008 (oh gooood, they deactivated the Commission information tab—without removing it from the design—, and yeeeesssssss, they added a search function!!!1!), and just relies on its community. The day FA will be down again for an extended period of time (which will happen in the future), I expect those services to have a positive increase in users. And I look forward to seeing InkBunny be chosen, as it seems to me the best service respectful to its community (I filled a "feature request ticket" and it got implemented a month after, yoho), and the fact it is about to support about every major art website. Technically speaking, the Inkbunny API is already available and any talented programmer could make a killer-app if they wanted to.
To go back to your "when there's no competition, the leader stagnates" statement: actually, there is competition, but the user base of Fur Affinity is so high that almost nobody wants to bother changing.
I'm sorry to say I hope most people don't change I like how FA is. I just don't particularly like inkbunny or sofurry for that matter their sites are just not appealing to my eyes.
You do have to realize that right now, you will get a lot of new features because the site is new. It's perfectly normal for any pipeline. However, let's see how the site fares after the amount of time that FA's been around.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not advocating the status quo here. Far from it. I am a strong proponent of improving the website. However, my coding skills not being that great (learning ASP.NET/MSSQL for work-related stuff and I used to know PHP3...), I wouldn't even dare saying I could make something better.
And yes, that's the whole "user base being huge" thing is both a boon and an issue for FA. It has gained so much momentum that making a change is going to generate as much positive as negative feedback for anything they do. So, the pipeline that I was talking about a moment ago will be slower. It's how things are.
However, I do say that they should implement a few things, namely actual "groups" and folders.
The former was working on launch for Furocity and the latter was introduced a few weeks later.
Sure first I like the simplicity of FA's design and color scheme. Second when I find an artist all I have to click is gallery to see all of their work not have to be sent to a folder page where I have to click into then out of every folder they chose to make to see all there work. Third Inkbunny's UI is all over the place where FA's is all up in the left corner. Those are just a few things.
I won't mind if the folders are sort of handled like DA in that I can still view all the work at once OR if I want to look at some specific stuff I can click on a folder.
1st) I'll make a suggestion to add a simple theme.
2nd) I don't really get what you're talking about. IB doesn't have folders, at best they have 'pools'. You can always just look at their main gallery that should have everything in it, and like FA it has scraps too.
sadly even if they change it I will probably at best use inkbunny as sparingly as possible in truth I only made an account to follow 1 artist and sadly I am very biased and will stick to FA as my main furry site till the end of days. I do thank you for replying to my post though.

DeviantArt, FA, InkBunny, SoFurry, and ArtSpots.
God I am such a lunatic.

3rd) Looks like it's all in the top-middle area to me. o.o; Either case, IB is open to allowing hacks/scripts so you could do lots with it there if you'd like: http://wiki.inkbunny.net/wiki/Hacks.....ripts_and_Mods
Thanks for the feedback.
