No no no your, say.. Being interviewed. Close, directly infront of each other, eye to eye. Close enough so you can only focus on one eye in your view. Now the question is do you choose the left or the right

I keep too much of a distance usually to remember the few occasions when I was close enough for it to matter. I tend to avoid looking into the eyes of someone else though because when they return the look, our eyes are aligned in a manner, that it feels to me like they are trying to trespass into my mind. If the eyes are the soul's windows to the world, then in that moment someone on the outside is pressing their face hard on the window glass to catch a better glimpse of the interior.

Maybe you have pretty eyes?

Well, based on html colour charts the colour of my iris is almost identical to "steel blue." The whole feeling of intrusion however really seems to be a question of angle. Not only does it feel like an intrusion, but I feel like it triggers involuntary changes in my countenance towards a friendly grin.

What if their from India and rocking the red dot? I feel like that could make things stranger. For a moment you might even go cross eyed at one point? The other staring back might catch on your looking slightly off, and in worst case the police will give you a strong talking to.. Like mister robokitty had

I will switch eyes from time to time. I'think left has prescedence for the initial eye xD. If its a cross-eyed person I will try to find out which eye he/she is looking with and ONLY look at this one as the other eye distracts me thinking that person maybe forcefully looking away to rudely cut the conversation. If I just can't figure out the correct eye I will go with inbetween.

What cracks me up is that there's people that will be switching eyes as frequently as 2 times/second. I can't stand that and will start to immitate them switch the focused eye with an even higher frequency to let them know what they are doing. (But its so hard xD)

hhaha! One of my first jobs my supervisor was crossed eyed. He didn't like that I didn't do what he told me to do, because I never was sure if he was talking to me. LOL Even if he was standing right infront of me with no one else around.. I just though he was just walking over the line of insanaty, cause of the idea that I thought the job boring, I thought he might of had to many years under his belt at this place and kicked his brain bucket. I feel bad about that, I gave him a hard time. But really, with his thick glasses I couldn't see that he was looking at me when he talked >_>
