It was sad, the best voter's guide I found to help me make my decisions was the "Christian Voter's Guide", I just checked the opposite of whatever they endorsed. Social issues I understand working that way, but the fact that I disagreed with them reliably on every economic proposition also somewhat worried me.
It wasn't intentional. They were just the top result every time I researched a candidate or issue in the local races, and every time their endorsement was the opposite of what I wanted. next time around though...
I thought it was a pretty clever description, yah.
"An invisible man! Living in the sky! And he has this list of ten things he does not want you to do! And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a place of fire and torture and screaming and burning and choking... but he LOVES you..."
Christ himself advised against using disaster and accidents as a "bona fide" of God's wrath/displeasure/punishment. But remember where the Christian fundies come from: the whole authoritarian/iron first of God/Hellfire & Brimstone shtick.
Russ Feingold, a man who stood up for freedom even in times when it wasn't popular for him to do so, lost to Ron Johnson... a man who "doesn't think freedom of religion means freedom from religion." A sad day.
This is something I find annoying in many occasions. There is some serious issue, but both sides are fighting it on an emotional level. They always avoid facts.
