Site Status - 6 - Now Hiring & FYI - cA User Hierarchy
15 years ago
Well, its been jus over a week, an jus WOW!!! We started out with something like 15 page-views here and we're over a 1000 above that now. We went from 4 or so watchers, which were my buddies who helped me come up with most the initial ideas and concepts for the community, and now we're are pushing 70 watchers, a good 95% of which are enthusiastic about the project. Some are those evil lurkers and trolls that we cant live with and cant live without.
Speaking of dem nasty trolls, aside from them we've managed well over 100 members on cubAffinity.net that are actual legitimately interested critters who share a desire to see the site succeed. I've been dealing with an overwhelming positive response and despite some big names in the fandoms efforts to either deliberately or not care enough to not inadvertently hinder our efforts and the very little negative response from that, we're trucking on only a little behind schedule. If we've been able to accomplish all that with like 30 or so invites and not really even having a web page, imagine what's gonna happen when we're really up and running!?
As far as server and software are concerned we've tweaked out those red and yellow lights we had and we're green across the board. We're cleaning up our land slide of sign-ups, a lot of which were just people trying to be an undesirable pain under our tails, and it will take us a little bit to sort through that, so if you feel its taking a while for us to approve your membership, that would be why. When we've hashed through most of that we will move back to a more specific combined effort to work on getting us out of default more. To that regard we have a new site design working, which I'm enthusiastic about, but definitely admit needs some work. Just wanted to show that even with everything else we are dealing with, we are still trying to move things out of default. There still isnt much to do, but we are trying to lend some focus over to enabling a few features so you can start using the site for something. First on the agenda is enabling you to work on your profile. We're shooting for being very community focused, so a rich profile will be key. We'll announce when we're more ready to say GO on that, as well as some other features.
I've managed to pull together a good paw full of people to form my initial help team. I've got 2 ops people, but need 3 or 4 more, and aside from those who will be working mostly on hardware and or software, I've got 6 or 7 or so of a team of 30 or more that I need for anything from high level admin all the way down to help staff and content (site specific) contributers. To that regard I hope this list helps a little bit. I'll be posting something more about it, but as of right now its still anything you feel you can effectively and enjoy doing a lot, you dont have to be an expert, but experience helps, although that is not necessary either. I'll just ask in the interview chat why you think you would be good at it, if you don't have any experience, and we can toss around ideas and such and if I feel your good to go, you're in.
So where I list "slots available" don't count that as set in stone necessarily. This is all a work in progress and things can change, with notice. Also, I know I need to tweak the duties and such, but this is just a rough for starters WIP kinda thing, so throw me a bone.
cubAffinity User Hierarchy
administrative staff:
11 Slots Available - 5 Taken - TBA
Direct extensions of the owner of the site. Governing body of the community, capable of handling most if not all duties. Put forth to hand most if not all duties as the site is just getting started, but consult, advise, yet follow the plan and structures set out as the owner decides and then last of all delegate responsibilities to there subordinates.
administrative support:
6 Slots Available - 2 Taken - TBA
Much like Admin staff but most likely answer to and operate under an administrative staff member assigned to a particular section of the site or focused duty. These individuals would most likely be able to handle a more general scope of duties but to a lesser degree and with a smaller time commitment than administrative staff. Also to some degree they would supervise mod staff and under more directly that the administrative staff team.
*operations:
Ops team handles software and hardware specific concerns. Our ops team has administrative staff level access to the site, but this does not necessarily mean that they would share the same duty structure. Currently we have one member who is almost purely hardware operations, but provides light advice concerning design and operations, and light software support, and we have one member who provides Drupal specific ops support and sits on administrative staff.
6 Slots Available - 2 Taken - TBA
(Available slots = 1 slots Drupal focused and, 2 slots PHP and other site specific with possible Drupal or other similar software experience, and 1 slot mostly design focused with experience / or ability to learn skills necessary to implement changes as needed.)
NOTE: If you do not have any upfront experience with Drupal but feel that with your experience with other packages or just you having looked at it and thought, "hey I could bite into that and do something awesome", I'll consider allowing you a trial run if you can put some time into it.
helper:
This user role will be removed soon. It is just the general cover all role for anyone helping me with the site right now as I assign duties to the newly created user structure.
modstaff:
6 Slots Available - 2 Taken - TBA
Moderators often help out in a general sense especially so far as the site being new right now, but have a lesser commitment to duty than admin or admin support, as well as being individuals who answer to admin and admin support. As the site becomes more refined and staff roles more defined, moderators will most likely oversee very focused parts of the site, such as one or few groups or watching over and keeping on track a forum page and the threads there in, or tending to albums under one or more categories.
*deputy:
6 Slot Available - 0 Taken
Deputies are officers specifically given more authority to police for and "arrest" users who are violating site policy or otherwise utilizing the site maliciously or abusing other members.
They are not judge, jury, and executioner and are only meant to be the front line reaction to things going on that shouldn't. All instances where a deputy ends up needing to take harsh action, where it escalates to "arrest" / "suspend" the matters will be brought forth to modstaff, admin support, or administrative to determine more clearly what needs to be done. Deputies can not "ban" per se, unless you want to consider temporary suspension a temp "ban", but they will be encouraged to take down information where those above them can make a fair decision concerning the necessity for their intervention.
For more about this see... suspect, probation, locked, and troll users below.
security:
Non specific number of slots open - none taken
Much like deputies but not able to "arrest" / "suspend", they are encouraged to patrol and report and may be asked to help in more indepth investigations to support a deputies case and thereby may also be called to "observe" / "witness" deputy - member interactions.
helpstaff:
Non specific number of slots open - 5 possible takens
Generally speaking those given some extra access's in order that they can better assist modstaff.
sponsfur:
Those few members who are given access to bonus or additional features because they have either paid for them specifically or they have donated to the site and we feel it only fair they receive something more to show our gratitude.
super memfur:
Those few who are granted honored artist / member accounts for being integral members of the community.
memfur:
Graciously and proudly accepted members of our community. Standard members are granted access to pretty much 95% of what our site has to offer.
authenticated user:
Software specific technical term for a user who has been approved / authenticated through the registration process. Authenticated users will most likely be able to view much of the site, but will have restricted access to submission and editing features until we can further confirm they are not gaining access to our community to troll, harrass, or other act out in other problematic manners.
anonymous user:
Software specific technical term for a user role that we will not utilize.
suspect:
Suspect members are those members where a situation has escalated to a point where we have determined it best that certain access's and use of the site must be blocked for said user for a time that it can be determined that they will not utilize said features to lash out against or otherwise harm the site or other members of the community.
Typically this means that they will be allowed to view all that they normally do, but they will not, for example, be allowed to upload content, and may be restricted from comments, and will be limited to correspondence with staff utilizing a simple text editor.
While matters are hashed out and dealt with, suspect members will not be flagged as such for the general membership to see.
probation:
Probation is more or less temp ban, highly restricted use of the site.
If a member has been escalated from suspect to probation because the matter could not be resolved the reason for their being put on probation will be posted for the general membership to review.
locked:
Locked members are completely blocked from access the site, down to as strict banning as we can manage. Locked members could prevent unlocked members of cA from viewing the site for we will most likely resort to IP banning. We will however first and for most never do this unless a panel of individuals has decided it necessary (unless of course its for some legal concern like they loaded CP), and second of all we will try our best to impose these actions only on those who need it and technically make all attempts to allows access to the site for those who had no part in the wrong even if they live in the same home as the offender or share the same computer.
Locked members will be flagged as such to the general membership along with a summery of why these actions where taken.
troll:
Troll members are the same as locked members but specifically tagged as troll for falling under that category. This will also take into consideration that in our intervention and investigations we've found that these users have consistently acted the same on other sites. This info will be included in summery for general membership to review at their leaser.
underage -18:
Currently blocked, and possibly restricted access in the future, user. Only for being under legally mandated age governing use of a website with adult content on it, such as cubAffinity.
underage -13:
Like underage -18, but blocked and tagged for even more stringent restrictions concerning possible future access.
cA on FA Mods:
2 Slots Available - 0 Taken
As we are quickly out growing my ability to tend to cA on FA and giving it the attention I so desperately want to and feel it needs to while still focusing on the site as much as I should I'm looking for 2 like minded individuals to help me man this boat over here.

FA+

Could you pm me with more informations as far as like why you would enjoy doing this, how much time you can put into it, if you have experience and where, and / or why you feel you would be good at moding for our community?
Also, if you are serious you need to have read the TL;DR on the cubAffinity user page here on FA and contacted me through proper channels so we can start the interview process. In the interview process I will ask, because as mod you would be doing this, if you've read through my journals and through the user page / profile because I will be referencing it and asking your thoughts and ideas from it.
Thanks for your interest.
Right now viewing other member posts is turned off as we configure the site. Please be patient and if you run into a part of the site, which will unfortunately be most of it right now, that kicks back "you do not have access" please just refrain from doing that right now as it probably means that we just haven't got to setting that up yet enough we feel it good enough to let our memfurs use.
Watch site updates as posted here on cA on FA for new features you can use and keeping track of how close we are to beta and our grand opening.
Thanks so much for your enthusiasm towards our project and community.
Looks like I'm just in time too <:3c
We can pretend to be happy about it and say you should be proud to be *coughs* our first...
But, I'm gonna cry for a few seconds over it...
...
...
...okay, done.
You'll be old enough soon, and we still may be building a kick tail section of the site for ya.
Aww, dun cry over me D:
Eh, by then I'll just be another "Newfur" with zero posts D:
I do hope you're site makes it, though, I'm glad to see someone is doing something about FA's ban on freedom of expression ^-^
Did I ever get back to you on this? If not please accept my apologies.
Also, are you still interested? We're currently trying to form up a new team. If you're still interested please PM or email cubaffinity at gmail dot com.
b
Thanks for your interest in helping out. We are indeed in the midst of reforming our admin and mod team, so it's really nice to hear from you.
The site is currently not set to auto register people, you just have to fill out a form with a few questions and agree to the current terms and conditions and we'll screen you for approval. If you like you can send me a PM with your email or just email cubaffinity at gmail dot com and I'll send the app off to you.
Also the site is pretty much currently a semi-expensive place holder, until we can reform a team, in that the host software will kick back piles of "access denied" errors, because core modules are currently turned off.
Hope to hear back from ya soon.
