Well. I just had to reformat my Netbook computer, due to suffering major slowdowns suspected to be attributable to virus infestation.
Before Id id that, I did what any sensible computer user does, and backed up all my important data to my PC, specifically by loading the netbook's hard drive into my Linux PC and drag-and-dropping.
Well, the WTF moment is when I went to restore by the exact same method. It's like nothing ever happened when I brought the netbook back up.
Where'd my files go? Why'd my restore fail? I haven't nuked the backup yet, so I'd better get to the bottom of this when I get home....
This doesn't make any sense. Any comments?

Windows CHKDISK went absolutely bonkers last reboot. Apparently yanking your hard drive and making major change sto it is a bad idea while the system is in standby mode...
It found my pictures and a couple songs I'd recently downloaded, but the majority of my music and a fistful of folders remain missing. I wonder where it hid it.
So now I get to piece everything back together, and wonder what these 37 damaged file fragments are...
