Solo & Ensemble
We're starting a bit on Solo & Ensemble now. I have too many events, gaaaah. I don't mean too many by the rules, but just too much to handle. I have, currently:
1. Bass Solo (possibly Music Theatre?)
2. Bass Duet (with TJ)
3. SSB Trio (with two freshmen that wanted to do it)
4. Alto Saxophone Solo
5. Tenor Saxophone Solo
6. Flute/Alto Saxophone Duet (with Jasmine, a super kind and talented sophomore)
7. Saxophone Quartet (SATB) (I'm playing Tenor, and it includes my ex. Should be fun.)
8. Saxophone Choir (Probably SAAATTB or something similar. We'll probably pick a quintet and double up some parts)
9. Misc. Woodwind Quintet (A Senior Ensemble; we picked a classic woodwind quintet [Flute/Oboe/Clarinet/Horn/Bassoon] and will have an alto sax on the oboe part, an alto sax [me] reading horn, and a bari sax on bassoon)
This is so much stuff!! If I cut out anything, it will probably be (first off) the tenor sax solo because I've practiced the alto sax solo already and I did a tenor sax solo last year, and also either the vocal duet or trio because TJ is also doing a lot of things and the trio just might not pan out.
Also I should mention that everything will be Class A music (the hardest level) except the trio will probably be C or B. The difference between A and the others is that A solos that receive a *1 rating can perform at the state level.
In other news, in choir today we went through the Men's Honor Choir music that I got nominated into and it's really hard so I'm nervous. :( I've been practicing Bass 2 but then the director found out today that I'm actually Bass 1, dammit. Also, half the songs are in Latin, one is in Zambian, and one is in Old English.
I'm really tired. This whole week I've been really tired. I don't work this weekend, though, and I'm going to Chula Vista with some school peeps for GIVE, so it should be fun.
That's it. Long journal is long.

I don't think that the quintet will be too bad. We are all woodwinds, thankfully, so we should blend together alright. Altos sound similar to horns, anyways. The only really weird thing is that we have a sax playing the oboe part, which kind of flip-flops clarinet prominence a little.
And, we don't really have a choice. We don't have a (decent) oboe player, I've read horn for three years anyway, and we don't even have a bassoon (that works). And you're not going to see a flute/clarinet/sax/sax/sax song anywhere.
I dunno, I'm sure it will be fine. Unique, anyway.
