Commission Contest Update (and more!)
Since I've changed a few things around and added details, here's my current commission rates and statuses.
$5 - pencil sketch of one character, concept art/'skinning' sketch for animation
$10 - each character, each new 3d character model, background
+$10 - high detail on a character or background
$20 - animation, per scene (defined as a single background)
Addendum 1: costs are reduced by 50% if the final price is over $100
Addendum 2: sketching will begin prior to payment
Addendum 3: prices between $50 and $100 require a 50% deposit to continue beyond sketching, rather than payment in full.
Addendum 4: prices over $100 can establish a payment plan instead of a 50% deposit. This is done so costs can be distributed over time, lessening the impact on the budget. This also gives me encouragement to continue with enthusiasm on a massive project.

I've been trying to find a job, but having no luck so far, but then I haven't had hardly any time to look. I put out several applications last week, and I'll be calling to check on them tomorrow. I've also heard a few rumors about people who might be giving me a call for freelance work, so we'll see how things go. In theme with calls tomorrow, I need to contact Sallie Mae to see who the hell I need to talk to about my consolidation loans. Somehow two companies have consolidation loans for me, and Sallie Mae has a bunch of loans with huge negative balances. I e-mailed them but they basically said "Thanks for writing! Please call us if you have any further questions." I also need to call ITT and Westwood and try to sort out some confusion involving about 40 credits dissapearing from my trascript. I hope I can actually get enrolled come October, but if my luck holds as it is I'll have to find someplace else to go.
I had a lovely time at a bonfire the other night, but my sister-in-law had a tumble into the fire. Got some bad burns on her hand and arm, and we got to watch a lighter explode. Yesterday we went over to my brother's place for a welcome-back party for someone who got delayed and thusly never showed up. But I got to watch some Universe and had a delicious stroganoff dinner out of it, so yay.
I'm looking forward to Rakûl's visit, though there's some concern as to how to arrange transportation to pick him up, because his bus is scheduled to arrive at 1am. Then again, on a trip that's over three days long, delays could add up, especially if the bus route needs to cross the border more than once. I hope they don't turn him away like they did the last time. Damn paranoid border guard bastards. I'm thinking of saving the money I get from commissions for his visit, since a used car that will actually run seems to be a lot more expensive than I anticipated. Everything under a thousand dollars seems to need a new engine. I'm hoping to collect enough to be able to head out to a nice dinner, maybee have a movie in there too. I figure the rest of our plans can be pretty spontanious.
All in all, things seem to be moving forward, just hitting more turbulance than I anticipated. You'd think by now I'd learn that nothing ever goes without ten thousand speed bumps for me, so something that takes a week for anyone else needs at least a month for me. }:=8Þ
