GOSH! How weird...

All it take is a cold front to turn rain into snow... and it's not far to go from 40 to 32 to have snow.. You also have to remember that it cools off 3.5 dreegs per 1000 feet of elvation, but wait till it's 30 and you are having light rain like we had for about an hour.

I realize that those conditions, but for this specific micro-climate it's almost unheard of for it to snow. Generally coastal areas in this neck of the woods don't get that kind of precipitation.

I understand that, but it does happen from time to time. It's just like here on San Juan Island there have been times when it's had over four feet of snow at one time. Yet the most I've seen at one time over the last 11 years is 10 inches. In both cases it's not something you are use to seeing that's all.

I have to note that it does NOT snow in this particular part of California. San Francisco to Santa Cruz are usually snow immune year round. The fact that the temperature actually dropped below or to freezing for however long is warning in and of itself, the rain that just so happened to coincide with it is of little importance. You say 40 to 32 like it would just normally do that, but no, it would not. Not here, not normally.

Let there be little doubt that these conditions are of our doing; while we may be excited to see snow where it has ever so rarely been before, I hope the signs of the coming storm are just as clear as our excitement.
