Legos will never die. They will always be fun to put together. It's totally novelty priced, but I bought a $50 Lego Viking chess set when I was at the Lego store in Disneyworld... nothing to really put together but it sits on my coffee table for those who wanna challenge me to a badass game of chess. X3

I was never actually "good" at Legos. I was never any good at building anything other than what the particular set was for. I had a friend in school who was CRAZY AWESOME at building things. He made functional X-wings and AT-AT walkers from spare Lego parts. One day he suggested we each build our own space ships and have a mock battle. He spent half an hour building this giant behemoth of a ship. I spent half a minute putting the tail section of an airplane onto the top of a normal brick, then called it finished.

My slinky was clean a few hours ago! Now it's covered in weird spots. Probably oil from my skin or something. And it smells. Like metal.

All slinkys break eventually! To build a slinky that doesn't break would be to TAMPER IN GOD'S DOMAIN.

You can try washing it, but dry it quickly so it dosen't rust. :P xD

I suppose metal ones could get kinks in them more easily ... but that can be even worse than having a plastic one snap in half, perhaps. But I never really liked the plastic ones, regardless. They're ... unnatural.

It's metal. Hmm, yeah ... plastic slinkys ... I recall slinkys going through a renaissance years ago ... all kinds of weird slinky-based toys ... I had a plastic slinky, too. It was blue, I think. It just didn't have the same HEFT as the metal ones. Ha, yeah, disturbing is a good adjective.

Slinky went whore like all the old childrens toys, in a desperate struggle to survive through to today. They failed. I remember having slinky candy which was like some sorta hard candy spiral.. I think a huge pound of gummy in a slinky spiral would have been better..

Also I dunno, the metal ones kinked so bad and then they were worthless ;.;

Things seem to have settled down. The only kind I could find in the toy department was the original metal slinky. No plastic versions, no "Slinky Jr.", no slinky dogs, etc.

OH OH OH!~ Comment @ the legos.. are they a 'classic' set? Have you noticed how all legoes now adays are like.. 8 big cubish blocks which serve as a base for 765 intricate and totally fucked up custom pieces that can only be used in 1-2 different ways? It's retarded. They are killing the creativity of little kids by building their playsets out of such limited pieces.

I don't think I ever actually bought a tub of Legos! I just bought various sets that eventually got torn down and put into a giant plastic bin. And I dunno, I think they're pretty useful. Axles and gears are pretty universally handy. Ooh, like those old, uh ... Technic Legos! YEAH! They had these long pieces with holes in them that you could connect to other pieces with holes in them, and they would rotate like they were on a hinge ... I dunno. I thought they were pretty useful, even if I never actually made anything out of them. But then, I haven't bought a set in many, many years. Are there new, even more useless ones now?

I shall find an example. Give me time. I remember this dinosaur I bought for my nephew was literally one form-molded plastic peice for the entire T-rex head. I was furious when I realized it.. stupid waste of 20 bucks x.x;

God I wanted that train set. My grandfather took his old train set and ripped apart a few of his old cars so he could mount lego blocks onto them so I could have a kinda awesome ghetto-tastic version..

I don't think I ever actually had any Micro Machines stuff, besides the cars and the carrying case. Lotta Hot Wheels/Matchbox stuff, though. Various tracks, car washes, burning buildings, etc. Oh, and a CONSTRUCTION SITE! With fake plastic dirt that had fake tire tracks in it that didn't match any of my vehicles.

I hated the diecast metal cars, mostly cause I couldn't chew and mangle and suck on them like the horribly orally fixated child(and now adult-esque person sized thing) I am.

It took me a week to decide whether to buy a $60 MP3 player or not, even though I've got the money to obscure my kitchen table with PS3s.

I haven't had a REAL economical pleasure in years. Usually that involves perusing the electronics and finding an old PC game for 10 bucks. I haven't stepped foot in a toy department for longer than I can remember. Hasn't changed much, though. They still have an entire aisle devoted to pink. God, that still sends chills up my spine.

Tell me about it! Before my local Kay Bee Toys store closed, the entire entrance of the store was a wall of pink. I wrote a high school essay on that, arguing that color is strictly a social construct. Just recently I read a scientific study confirming my suspicions, but amazingly people still argue that girls have a genetic preference for pink.

So, if boys like blue and girls like red and pink, that makes a purple lover like me bisexual? Oh ho, I don't think so. =)

I'd call it an early adulthood crisis. I went through one of thise. I think I still might be. One of my friends did, too. I think it's basically like having a mid-life crisis, only at an earlier age, which means that you can't blow thousands of dollars on boats and cars that are supposed to make up for a receding hairline and concerns over penis size. Although I don't know if you've been worrying about those questions of "what's the point?" and "what the hell am I going to do with the rest of my life?" and "is/was college a waste of time?" or "did I waste/am I wasting my time in college / my college on studying the wrong field?" and all that fun stuff.

But, I miss my legos. I want to see if I still have any of them somewhere, and then play with them. I usually made houses and cars, but I'd make the furniture, too...sofas, fridges, TVs, sinks, toilets--can never forget the toilets! ;) Although admittedly some things, such as the microwave, or a chest of drawers, were simply a brick of multiple blocks simply there to represent whatever it was. But it was so much fun. Oh! And the arcade was cool, too. that's where I used the random weird pieces that I wanted to use but didn't have a place for.

I loves me some Slinky goodness! Watching it tumble down the stairs like a child with poor motor skills... ah, good times.
