Speed is What I Need
No not the drug, of course not. What I'm talking about is the speed that I see some artists have. Now I just posted a new comic that I hope to last very long, however the major problem was that it took me practically the whole day to finish it. I worked from 5AM to 2PM just on a sketch page alone, that's not good at all and I desperately need advice on how to work faster. Around the FA bush (and DA as well) I hear how artist do comic sketches in about an hour, or even 30 minutes. So clearly I'm being left in the dust here and this... hurts my pride.
Does anyone have any advice for this kind of situation? Some tips, anything to get me pumping out these pages faster? Cause sketches shouldn't take half the day to finish, its just sad.

There is nothing limiting how fast you can work except you. Draw faster. Accept rougher work. Eventually, its going to look smoother. Pump out a few rough sketches, then go back and clean them up later. I think you might be surprised how quickly you can produce stuff when you dont obsess over how good it looks. I find music helps as well.
But like I said, I dont really know anything.
I usually don't even try to get anything done in a day... I start a sketch one day, and look at it the next. It helps correcting things that look off. I can usually expect to work on a piece a week or more, but in small doses, and plenty of time to rest in the middle.
So... Speed doesn't matter all that much in my opinion. Kind of besides the point, actually, if you enjoy drawing...
Basically I don't wanna be working on a drawing/inking/coloring at 6 AM and then look up at the clock and its 7 PM at night. It just hurts to see that I took so long on it, and it hurts even more when I barely got any of it done.
