The coastal-ish areas always could use some extra tourist dollars.
Oh well, at least the Air Force museum gets some chunks!

Ahh well. At least it gives a good excuse for a road trip!
Isn't John Glenn originally from Ohio?
Today is the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's flight in Vostok 1.
In 1996 I visited the Smithsonian Air and Space museum, looking into John Glenn's teensy little capsule, I can see why the first astronauts called themselves, "Spam in a can."
Vostok 1 had one thing different most people don't know about, it had an ejection seat, since the capsule landed at a hig speed into the Russian plains.
Gagarin would have been injured, but by ejecting he came down at a normal speed, like a parachutist.
It's New York that's the head-scratcher., (most likely based on "number of people who will see it").
I'm from Ohio, and I know there are famous people born from this state. (For Example: The Wright Brothers. Neal Armstrong.
And of course, Eric W. Schwartz).
The replacement shuttle designs were all shelved years ago werent they? So, back to good old rockets...
Yeah thats advancement for you.
I can honestly believe that the next big thing in Earth-Orbit vehicles will be privately funded. Very likley there'll be a big V on the side of it.
Personally, I'm hoping the Falcon Heavy pans out.
that over glorified Hard Rock CafeThe Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.Oh well, at least we've still got a Gemini capsule and a Saturn V on display. I need to go over and take a tour sometime, haven't been in a long time.
So yeah, I'm very very happy we'll have a shuttle here.
My once-in-a-lifetime closest approach to actual Shuttle hardware was when I got within a couple of miles of Endeavour on pad 39-A on a tour of KSC in 2002. Missed seeing an actual launch by THAT much...!
