There's no shame in using photo reference in illustration. The only shame is being dishonest about your methods or willfully pushing aside copyright considerations.

Yeah, the site is a bit of a jumble but buried under the disorganised and drama-ish (it is the interwebs after all) surface, there's some good info. :D
