Stuck Childhood Memories

I don't know if its just me or not but I have a really good memory when it comes to my childhood but sometimes things will come across my mind that I remember were awesome but I can't recall like the name or some important piece of information that could help me recall what it was and it just totally drives me nuts! Case in point. It was summer of 1987, my parents took me down to Disney world and one of the days we were staying there a huge thunderstorm rolled in so we just stayed in the hotel room that day. Now I remember this like it was yesterday, my parents were taking a nap and I was flipping through the channels and I came across a movie already in progress. Now all I remeber from the movie was like a kid, and there was monster in the lake and the kid had a fish tank in his room and the kid is staring at the fish tank and figures out the monster is actually a steam shovel or something. Now thats it, thats all I could remember and that I thought it was coolest movie ever. The problem is I asked my parents if they could get me the movie but they had no idea what I was talking about so for 24 years I have this movie stuck in my head without a title and I really wanted to see it. Through the wonders of the internet, amazingly someone else had the same exact problem as me and posted a question on yahoo that actually got answered! Turns out its a rare Austrailian film from 1986 called "The Quest" I checked it out in imdb and sure enough its the movie that has been bugging me all these years. I'm so happy to finally know what the hell the movie is. I even bought it on Amazon for 11 bucks used. The only problem is that the movie was never released on DVD so Im getting like the real deal 1980s VHS tape. I don't care, I need to see this movie again! Ahh I can't wait.

Oh there is another movie that is bugging me if anyone knows what I'm talking about!
I saw this back in the 80s too, its a movie where there are like these roller skating kids or somthing out in the desert and I think one of the kids is deaf but there is like magic white glowing orb that I think allows him to hear and they hid the orb inside a chest cause these other rollerskating desert kids are trying to steal it or somthing. The movie kinda reminded me of Mad Max but instead with kids on rollerskates and white orbs. Any one know what I am talking about?

I always ask everyone and no one knows what the hell im talking about XD Think im making that movie up
I did see the Nostalgia Critic's review, though.
Well thats kinda like another movie that was stuck in my head. I was so lost trying to figure out what it was I started to think it must have been a dream. I found out a couple of years ago that it is a cartoon movie from 1977 called "The Mouse and His Child" and is just as rare as "The Quest"

Final someone that knows that movie
I was able to remember the melody of the theme song and that it had "El Espacio" ("outer space") in the title. Mom and Dad had no memory of it, and it wasn't on the hours of VHS we taped from Spanish TV.
20-odd years later, I found it: http://youtu.be/ALN9zw9DxGU
My memory wasn't dead on (I remembered the theme being in 4/4 time instead of 3/4 time), but it's the oldest memory I can confirm as 100% mine.
