On the Subject of Finished Animations

General
Since completing "A Change in Plans," I have to say I've been blown away by the amount of positive feedback I've received. I've gotten litrally hundreds of comments, shouts, private notes and e-mails from people who want to tell me how much they enjoyred it (and only a few who think I'm sick and depraved).
Along with all the overt compliments have come praise of a different species; people who loved the animation so much they want to see it finished. This journal is a communal response to the multitude of these requests, and I'm sorry for not responding to each of you individually. There are a LOT of you, and doing it like this may help answer future questions before they're asked.
The short andswer is, it's not going to happen.
It's not a question of time. If it were, I'd be working on it now, as commissions seem to be a bit scarce at the moment. Nor is it a question of money. I've received several offers, some of which had the potential to be EXTREMELY generous, particularly by non-professional standards (You know who you are, and I'm truly flattered). These offers were enough to make me take this long to reply as I weighed my options.
At the end of the day, though, it's mostly a question of career. Animation is not only a hobby, but a signifigant part of my professional career. Finishing the animation would take months, at least, and I would want to make sure it was of the highest possible standards. At the end of it, however, I would be unable to use material of this nature in my demo reel. Making a project this big that I can never use to promote myself just doesn't make professional sense.
So thank you all for your support, but Im afraid it just isn't in the cards.
Sincerely Yours,
Slate
PS - What ever happened to all those people who wanted prints?

We can all understand. Don't feel bad if you are.
It's good to keep your own priorities at heart, and at the same time, you're letting us know how much you appreciate the feedback you recieved. That shows a level of character rarely present in society today.
We thank you for this animation, even in its current state. It's a gift most of us found highly enjoyable, as I'm sure you could tell. *chuckles*
Thank YOU for being who you are. That's what really matters here.
Take care, pal.
NNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
You might also want to consider setting up a donation box, and possibly releasing more of these little animations if the donations reacha predetermined amount (like 200, 500, or even 1000 dollars, depending on how much time/effort you're willing to put into them.)
I for one aren't much into vore, but I found the flash quite well done. Don't let the ones that can't seperate fantasy and reality get you down, it was great!
Secondly, why does the industry not want this type of animation? Speaking professionally, to see something of this quality completed (In your style and detail and from beginning to end) would be an incredible achievement in and of itself, and even though the content of it is questionable (In regards to societies standards), something of this magnitude would definitely turn heads even if it is porn. Honestly, it wasn't the porn that captured me when I first viewed it, it was the facial expressions, and how I could easily tell what was being said, without there being a hint of sound in it. The postures and what details you put in were crisp, clear, and extremely expressive. And though I am not the greatest with anatomy, there was nothing blatantly obvious that was wrong with it.
I easily see why you have declined finishing it, I'm just disappointed that society chooses to view this as something bad and foul instead of a work of art like it is.
And, as Charkonian said, Thank you very much for this Slate. It's wonderful, and very enjoyable to watch. Now if only I could get a fox to come attack me one of these days. :p
And yeah, it's sad and all that 'society' as a whole doesn't want to see it, but you know, I think that those of us who see it here appreciate it just as much. At least, I hope we all do.
We can't blame society for our own wishful thinking.
Anyhow, keep up the awesomeness regardless! Even if they're squigly lines here and there. I absolutely love them! I'm also absolutely jealous of every creature that's been eaten!
That's how a perfectionist gets unperfected things done.
At least take this into consideration. Try 30 minutes a day, every OTHER day, for the next three months. I don't know, maybe something will come of it.
