Zeppelin flew over NYC for the 1st time in 70 years!

I was so geeking out about this, you have no idea. I love stuff like this. I had to get this on video! I was lucky enough to spot one of only two Zeppelins in the entire world fly over NYC for the first time in 70 years. It is just one of those things you'll only get one chance in your entire life to see. It was so cool looking. The one I saw today is the worlds largest airship at about 220 feet. I can only imagine what the Hindenburg looked like, which was more than 800 feet long.

OK now some of you may be like "what the heck! this isn't your video? Its not on your you tube channel!" Well since the video has nothing to do whatsoever with furry and is of my personal interest, I uploaded it to my regular non-furry you tube channel that practically no one even knows about. I know, *gasp* people like other things besides furry?!

Really awesome. I love historical stuff like this too. Did you follow the whole 1957 Belvedere in the time capsule thing? That was interesting (yet sad)

Man, that thing can really move! It seemed a lot faster and more nimble (relatively speaking) than I would have expected.

I wonder how many New Yorkers' day were put on hold to just stop and watch it fly around.... quite majestic.

Actually I don't think people realized what it was and just though it was a blimp. There were alot of people just walking by, not even looking up.

Blimps look alot like Zeppelins. so i guess its the reason why nobody really paid attention, except you. XD

Wow that Video was so Awesome. I wish I could get to see such an Awesome Airship. Zeppelins had their fare share of problems over the years including the most infamous Hindenburg disaster. Besides the problems they had with em I bet there were great to ride on in style across the Atlantic Ocean. Too bad I wasn't around in the heydays of these ships.

Seriously, when I found out there was regular passenger service on an actual, honest, brand-name Zeppelin in the Bay Area I wanted to treat Kobi on our honeymoon.

I may still do that, if I can ever get past this whole being broke thing.

Yeah we had that come over here in norcal. I also saw the goodyear one too. They are cool to watch. I would love to go for a ride in one for a day just chillen.

Funny enough - one time while I was standing in the parking lot of the Johnson Controls battery plant in Ohio having a chat before going to lunch, one of the Goodyear blimps flew directly over my head. Probably only about 200 feet off the ground. Startled the hell out of me as it gently, silently, floated over the building and into view. HUGE!!! I would so love to ride in one of those.

I was watching it fly around while having a late lunch... I was kind of wondering what it was, since it looked a bit different than a blimp (even at a distance, I'm up by the GWB), and I wouldn't expect to see a blimp flying around Manhattan in the middle of a work day.

Wow, that was really quite maneuverable! I too would have thought it was just an advertisement blimp and not thought a thing of it. I had no idea it was only one of two and that there hadn't been a zeppelin up there in 70 years!

zeppelins are awesome. It's a shame that they aren't used more often, even with the discovery of aluminum and helium.
