June - E3 2011 ^^
Hey there guys. It's me again and here to tell of my thoughts of what I'm going to write here on this entry. Those thoughts are referring to what I saw at the E3 2011 expo online today since it was on Nintendo. From what I can say on it, they blew Microsoft and Sony out of the water. They began with an overture of an orchestra for the Legend of Zelda since it is going to be its 25th anniversary. Here is the video for it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FWq.....feature=relmfu
The first half of the conference was that on the upcoming 3DS games which are mostly 1st-party and it has an interesting lineup. They are in the following:
-Luigi's Mansion 2(this one took me by surprise and good to see that my boy Luigi will have another game to be in after 10 years) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-xVPaDUR18
-Starfox 64 3D(although it is a remake which I have the original on my Wii which I downloaded, it's the same game with better graphics which I'll give credit to) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrvRqvVs19g
-Kid Icarus Uprising(been a long while since he has appeared on his own in a game like this but great) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moitMMOHjr4
-Mario Kart 3DS(saw this one coming but it did have some interesting features such as customizing your kart or handgliding on it and as a submersible) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2G0Q.....eature=related
-Super Mario 3DS(brand new Mario game from the people who did the SM Galaxy games plus a certain item whih makes a comeback from Super Mario Bros. 3) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7-2ONYDpvU
Now the second half was when things started to get interesting. ^^ All the things that were talked about since this past April about Nintendo's newest home console to be shown at E3 2011 has came to fruition. What was once known as Project Cafe is now renamed as the WiiU. The name sounds a bit tad boring. I guess they sort of ran out of ideas for it for naming it. But other than that, it looks really good and as previously mentioned, it is going to be their first approach into going HD which is a plus. But the majority of the talk on it was centered on the new controller that is going to come with it and here is the trailer to prove it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4e3q.....feature=relmfu . At the end part of the video when they showed the clip from Zelda, that was utterly amazing and if they do that with some other 1st-party titles on some franchises we haven't seen yet like Starfox, Pikmin and F-Zero(these 3 very likely to be for the WiiU since they are long overdue) in its graphics power, then boy are we in one hell of a trip there. As for the console itself, here is the pic for it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wii_u.jpg . It is going to be backwards ompatible with older Wii games along with the Wii Remotes, Nunchucks, Wii Wheel, Wii Zapper, etc. So at least that will be a relief there. Except that this console will not be backwards compatible with Gamecube games, controllers and memory cards. If that's the case, I rather keep my Wii which has that backwards compatibility. At least the good thing of it it'll be able to use the SD card slot once again like what they did with the Wii. The only downside is that some of the games I have on my Wii like SSB Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, RE: Darkside Chronicles and Super Mario Galaxy 2 as examples have their game data which cannot be copied into the SD Card unlike some of the others that can do that. Seriously, I don't want to go with all that again especially in Brawl which I worked really hard to unlock everything in the games and not to mention they haven't been easy to come by to unlock. But with those that I was able to copy into the SD Card, I'll have no problem playing them on the WiiU because of the backwards compatibility of anything that is related to the Wii and specifically the Wii game data for some of those games I have in my SD Card. ^^ For the technical specifications, I'm thinking that it's going to go beyond the 512 MB flash memory and go as previously stated in my last entry of 8 GB and using the 25 GB game discs. Nintendo should also give players the opportunity to have them make their own accounts online like what Sony and Microsoft do for their PSN or Xbox Live. The console won't be out until 2012 and my best guess is that it will be for the Holiday 2012 season. But the WiiU did however got some really positive support from other well-known third party developers such as Electronic Arts, WB Games, Namco Bandai, Konami, Capcom and Sega as examples. Because besides the 1st-party lineup they have, they need to regain the hardcore audience they lost after the Gamecube era. If this happens, then the WiiU will see very good success this time around. I don't think that the console would go over $300 in the retail price since Nintendo always try to make it affordable to the public with their consoles. But once they start accepting reservations for the WiiU at Gamestop as an example, I'm going to be one of the first people on it. ^^ I don't want to miss this one out.
What caught my eye there is that a new Smash Bros. game is on its way for both the WiiU and the 3DS. I had a feeling that Sakurai wasn't going to give up on it since he said that once they put the finishing touches to KI: Uprising, the next Smash Bros. game is on his list. Hopefully for the next game, they will decide to add Krystal(Starfox heroine and Fox's love interest) into the roster as playable. Because she was originally supposed to be in Brawl and being the most demanded character. But there could be a chance that she'll join the roster for the next one. Besides, we need some more female characters in the roster and personally, I don't think that Zelda, Peach and Samus is enough. Krystal also needs to be in that spot to join them. I'll bet that next year's E3 2012 or for some of their conferences before the expo, they are going to start revealing some of the new 1st-party games from some of the franchises we have yet to see on the WiiU like Starfox, Pikmin and F-Zero. I was expecting something on Starfox to be revealed at the expo for the WiiU. But unfortunately there was still no word on it. All I can say is that there is a chance that it is somehow still in early development for the WiiU(I'll explain it later here in the entry). This is something that even Miyamoto would have to agree on ever since he first mentioned of making a new Starfox game when the Wii came out in 2006 when he talked about it 5 years ago. But after that time, there has been no word on it. As much as he is a fan of the series being the creator himself for it and of Hideki Kamiya(creator of Bayonetta, Okami, Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe; and a Starfox fan himself), now should be the time for that series to make a comeback into the home consoles and the WiiU is the perfect start for it. Think of the possibilities that the game would have on it such as the HD graphics of dogfights in space, the cutscenes in the game(I'm a sucker of watching scenes in games I like) and the online gameplay it will use. As for it being in development, there has been a lot of buzz going on lately that Retro Studios(Metroid Prime trilogy and Donkey Kong Country Returns) said that they are working on a project game for the WiiU that "everyone wants them to do". Looking at it, it has to be a 1st-party title(definitely not a Metroid game since they said they are finished with it; not a new DK game) from a classic franchise we haven't seen in a while. My best bet is that it has to be the new SF title coming up since fans have been demanding a new one and something that they would definitely want Retro Studios to do. I'm sure that after their successes with the MP series and DKC Returns, I'm sure that they will be able to pull it off very well with a new Starfox game and that Retro Studios are really good partners with Nintendo. So we may expect something on it along with the new Smash Bros. game sometime next year for E3 2012 when they start revealing new games for the WiiU. Even for SF 64 3D coming out in September 2011, I'll bet that it is going to sell well since it is after all a classic of the N64 game with better graphics. It would be the same thing for Pikmin 3 and hopefully a new F-Zero game. It would be very irritating to see some of these franchises to not show up on not just the Wii, but the WiiU. But knowing Nintendo, I have a feeling that they are going to have something on them when 2012 rolls in for the WiiU. It's about time that these titles should give the spotlight it deserves after all this time. Because I really don't want to wait for a long time for them to come out.

Of course, I still play StarFox Adventures and Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess more than any of my other games.
